Not sure if any of you have heard of this but ima post it anyway.

I have tried this and it works like a charm. Takes a little time but I swear there's not a single piece of silk on any of the ears. I do 3 ears at a time instead of 2.

Hmmm, I'll have to try that. Corn is just now showing up around here. The good stuff won't be here for a couple more months though.

Since when is corn silk on the ear that big a problem??:confused5:

My wife can't stand it on her corn, doesn't bother me any though. What I like about that method in the video is that it is fast. I like to grill our corn with the husk on and hate having to shuck it all at the end. I just want to eat.

Comes out clean as a whistle.

I really don't have that much of a problem with it, but it is much more presentable without it.

I'll have to try that method out. I love fresh corn on the cob, but rarely eat it because the silk is such a pain.

Do you soak the corn first?
I wonder if this works when bbq'ing.

Sometimes I do. If it's nice and fresh I don't worry about it. Comes out great. It's best if you can do it indirect on your grill.

I usually peel the corn husk back, remove the silk as much as possible then soak in water. Then I'll season some butter and coat it good. Then tie the husks back up with some garbage bag ties then grill.

Works pretty good.

I showed this video to my Mom, who grew up on a farm in the 1930's and '40's. This was news to her. :yesnod:

We tried it this afternoon... it worked like a champ! :hurray:

The heat source has nothing to do with this method of removing the silks as you shuck the corn, Chief.

Microwave corn on the cob :willy:

Always boiled or grilled it.

Guess I'm gonna have to try it.

It surprised me that four minutes per ear didn't over-cook it. I'm going to experiment with less time in the microwave because I do like my corn a bit under-cooked.

It would take too much time cooking a bunch for a large crowd, but with just two ears for the wife and myself it was fine.

Microwave corn is good, but grilled anything is better...:seasix:

You boil it after you shuck it just like you normally would.

No, with the method shown in theOP, it is completely cooked when you shuck it. Of course, you could boil or grill it further if desired.

But how does that translate into the boil and freeze for later method?

After buying some local sweet corn, tried the microwave way, worked as shown, easy, corn was moist, hot, done, and tasted great. That's the only way for us now. :seasix:

Do you have to boil it, or is it completely done , just using the microwave Edit: Norm answered that one....:seasix:

Tired it, 8 minutes per ear and it worked as advertised.

While it was good, I still prefer boiled for 10 minutes with water and ½ cup of sugar in the water.

But….it will be a good alternative if I’m in a hurry.

Wasn't it eight minutes for two ears, or four minutes per ear?

Just tried it, 5min an ear.....Worked as described but I had to shake the hell out of one of the four to get it to come out.Not one strand of silk and the shucks are soft so you can toss em in a bag as you are shucking them.

Tip......Use a very sharp knife to cut the ends off......:)
