Microsoft’s giving free Xbox 360s to students who buy PCs again
Microsoft’s bringing back it’s program where students who buy a new Windows PC get a free Xbox 360 to go with it. I guess the program worked out last year. Anyways, this is all about to sound really familiar, so brace yourself. (Even the promotion’s starting dates are almost the same!)

If you’re in Canada, you can get a free 4gb Xbox 360 when you buy a new, Windows 7 PC starting today (May 18, 2012). That same deal starts for people in the USA on May 20, 2012. So Microsoft’s getting a slight jump on the whole affair this year, as last year it started May 22, 2011 in the USA, with Canada and France’s promotion’s following shortly after. Best Buy, Future Shop, Fry’s, Dell, HP Direct, Microsoft Stores, NewEgg, Staples and The Source are all among the first stores scheduled to participate this year.

I’d call before making the drive to one of them, just to make sure. You don’t want to waste gas. You’ll also have to check in with the retailer to see which computers are part of the promotion, because Microsoft didn’t get into that with their announcement. Once you do find a computer you want and a store that’s definitely honoring the deal, make sure you or the student you’re accompanying has the school ID. If you don’t have the valid school ID when you make the purchase, you don’t get the Xbox 360.

Like last year, this deal is running “while supplies last.” I’m guessing you have at least a month, maybe two, to get your computer and free Xbox.

Sprint Offering iPhone Trade-In Promotion
Sprint has joined the list of retailers accepting an iPhone trade-in with their new promotion in which customers can trade in any older iPhone model and receive at least $100 worth of credit towards the purchase of an iPhone 4S. This promotion applies to any and all new customers, and it is running from May 18th until June 30th.

The company has not yet given details on just how much credit each iPhone model will earn, but since it starts at $100, newer models like the iPhone 4 are likely to bring in even more credit. This move by Sprint is very likely aimed at attracting new customers from other iPhone carriers, like AT&T, Verizon, and other regional carriers.

If you have an old iPhone lying around and really want to upgrade to the iPhone 4S (and wouldn’t mind signing a contract with Sprint as well), then take advantage of this promotion while it lasts.
