UNREP is a dangerous thing. I remember one time we were alongside the USS Constellation and we lost power. We had cables over and were transferring ammo. Snapped the cables and took out both the Captains gig and the officers boat. {snicker}
Here we were doing a 3 way in the Indian Ocean.

That's why we practice Emergency Breakaway! :yesnod:
I was on the Detroit (AOE 4) and UNREPing the USS Page. Somehow they lost aft steering for a few seconds, and they drifted so close to us, I could have reached over and shaken the other bridge-bridge phone talker's hand!
Scary shit (and shit!)

We didn't have time for emergency breakaway. The inhaul/outhaul was at the top of the kingpost.

Loss of steering input from the bridge, loss of hydraulic fluid-it happens. This just happened at a f'ed up time.
