I actually can't deny much of that.

I broke down on my way there. I was told that someone had a trailer who would get the vette if I would like. Of course I said yes and asked where he was. I was told that he was still asleep. I am not about to wake someone up to help me with my problems so I asked that if anyone saw him around to let me know and I will go talk to him. So about 24 hours after I get to the hotel I meet up with him and we get my car. Before that I was drinking and walking around. On the way to get the car and on the way back I thanked him many times. Once we got the car back just about everyone knew of my situation. Twenty or so people gathered around my car. I stood there and explained what happend on the drive to anyone who asked. It was getting late in the day and I walked to get another beer while people were discussing it. The next day I woke up and it was raining. I asked the hotel if they would be ok with me pulling the car up front under the roof to get out of the rain to work on it. They were fine with that so I did. Several people stopped by and offered to help on it. EG was one of the ones that did. At that time I realised that I didn't have the right wrenches. He gave me a lift to autozone to buy them. I thanked him many times too. I don't think anyone will deny what I have said. I spent the rest of that day working on it and got it on the road. Thirty or so miles down the road it was loosing coolant again. I pulled over and found a shop. Adam called the next day to see if I made it home. I told him what happened. He asked the forum to donate after I asked him not to. I am very thankful for it because I don't think I could have gotten the money on my own in such short time, but I would have still managed. I am not saying that I did the right thing, but at the time I did what I thought I needed to do. And yes, I stepped away when I was smoking. I think it is kind of rude to blow smoke into a non smokers face. I am sorry if anyone thinks I was trying screw anyone over. I wasn't. Also while working on the car I was drinking some, hell I had work that tuesday and was pretty stressed over the whole situation. Though I know that is no reason to drink.

Bottom line here is that I was just wondering if you were planning on paying anyone back. If a bunch of folks get together and help me out in that way, I'm finding a way to pay them back if it's the last thing I do. In my opinion, it's the right thing to do. Maybe I was just raised differently. Then again, I don't have a dog in the fight...I'm just asking the question (and based on the bitching I've seen online from people and heard in person over the last few years, I figured it was a question that should be asked, despite all the cheery "Hi Doug!!!" stuff).

Well...I remember people complaining about it. For a long time. But if you say they refused then I guess that's how it is. I was going by what I was told, read online and heard in my presence.
