I remember driving out of the way to a gas station because they were at 1.819 and the other stations were 2.00. I don't think we'll see it that low again with the current frame of mind of .gov :(

I so hope you are wrong....yeah it really sucks how they play games and then at this price we think it's actually cheap.
I picked up a couple at the airport and they said in Dubai gas was 29 cents a gallon

A few years back I had to fill the tandem tanks on my Ford diesel when fuel was up to $2.38 a gallon. I felt so depressed and remember vividly wanting to sell that truck due to operating costs at that time. I finally did when the price went up to $3.

:iagree:

But remember when $3.47 was enough gas to drive around all day?

I remember thinking it was getting expensive when it went to 38 cents

I remember going to the gas station and my dad would always tell the guy to put in $2.00 worth. I think gas then was 15 or 18 cents a gallon. He was able to go to work and back all week on that.
I ran a Hess station shift in 1970 and regular was 26.9 and "Hi Test" was 33.9....and 101 octane.

It has been done again..... raise the price 40-50%, then drop it 10% and the comsumers are thrilled. I still think it should be .30 per gallon.

When Diesel got up to $4.19 last month it cost me $150 to fill up both tanks on my F-350. Gas here went down to $3.25 yesterday.Diesel is $3.79

Gas prices just piss me off. I commute 53 miles one way each day, so it equates to about 4 gallons per day of premium. Add in tolls of $1.50 each way and I am spending around $20 per day just for the gas and tolls. And guess what, they are going to raise the tolls. Can I get a little kiss with that?

I'm not quite old enough to remember that... But I do remember being a kid and being excited to help my dad pump gas--the price was in the $.80 range and I remember asking him with great wonderment if he thought gas would ever be over $1 :willy:  :(

JESUS H> KATY CHRIST man, for paying that unless you can be in your own business, and deduct it......that's maybe one thing....but as a working stiff, even making 250k+/year that's a easy 600/month of NON deductible costs....

for that kind of jack, I"d have to move or change jobs.....to afford THAT you have to be paying serious taxes to the feds and the Prop taxes....and you better thank GOD we don't have a STATE Income tax.....

I dropped out of all that bullshit years ago, and thank GOD every day I found my lucky little street in a nice decent county with NO 'inner city taxes'....

had I moved just 2 miles north I would be totally screwed today....

Well, moving is not really on the table right now. To offset my commute, the wife walks to work. She complained at first, but she has gotten used to it. :D She teaches at a school that adjoins our neighborhood, so it is just about a 3-4 minute walk, takes her 6-7 minutes to drive. In addition, there are few good engineering jobs available, (i.e. will pay me close to what I am making) in Orlando, so I stay at the space center. But believe me, if I can land a decent job closer to home, I will be all over it.
