View Full Version : Neil Armstrong's Vette
Wow, that's a bunch of money for a wore out Vette.
Bids for Neil Armstrong's Corvette soar to $250K but collectors raise concerns | collectSPACE (http://www.collectspace.com/news/news-050512a.html)
Wish I had one of those $1,000,000 Canadian coins so I could make a bid.

I fail to see the connection between car collecting and celebrity infatuation. Yeah it's one of, but it is also a piece of shit.

I remember when the last 67 was sold in Barrett-Jackson. The guy invested so much money and time that I'm very sure he didnt get his money back.
I assume it will be restored to factory specifications and kept for it to go up in value. Do you imagine if this is a hoax.
To bid that high on ebay, you got to have a lot of cash stashed out. Knowing you can be taken for a ride.
Any of you have an ebay story?

My policy is to try not to spend more than $100 or so so if I get hustled, I won't lose sleep over it.
no way I'm buying a car sight unseen ever again.
One time I got pissed off at somebody who outbid my do-not-pay-more-than-price with a minute to go (before sniping) and I boosted the price about $300 higher until I stepped back and let him win.

I think sometimes on ebay they have proxy bidders, then come back and relist it, if it doesn't work, claiming non paying bidder.
I was outbid on evey bike I bid on a few years ago at the very last minute. Seemed fishy to me. So I bought a Corvette instead.

As far as this vette goes, I read an article the other day On Fox News that was talking about it and giving the history of it. It was a year long free lease that they gave to all Astronauts, then took them back and sold them as an astronaut owned car.
Here is one

The sign does make me long for those days of yore when America was still exploring and doing exciting things though......before we became entranced with socialism and political correctness, and gave up trying to be a world leader at anything other than blowing the snot out of small countries.
We've lost our identity and national pride in the last 40 years. But there was a time.....

Hang in there, Romney is now up in ALL polls. It ends in November.

I hope you are correct. I tend to think so, but there's still time to blow it.

He has no chance in hell of winning, but if he stays in as an Independent he has the potential to take a significant number of votes from Romney.
Hold it. Ron Paul still running??? :confused5:
I guess men loose their honor and self-respect with age. Like Red said, he never had a chance. I wonder if he would re-try in 2016.
I went into you tube and searched for Jimmy Carter presidential campaign advertisement.
This came out and I can say the only way this guy was elected was because the Nixon scandal. There was no way he would have ever win back in '76. How do you like the end?

It makes me nostalgic for the days when the worst a president could be was incompetent. I'd even take that twit over the Kenyan Kommie.

Carter was a diaster, however he is now ranked above Obama, that's how bad our current preezie is.
FYI, in today's Rasmussen poll, Romney +7 plus it's the first time he has reached 50%. This is not going to be close come November. I hope you are right, but if I was a betting man, I would put my money on odumbass getting the win in November.
I worry that we have reached the point where there are just too many mindless idiot libtards and waste of oxygen, drain on society "give me free shit" welfare recipients to overcome.
The only possible thing that could swing it to Romney is that you can guarantee a hell of a turnout from anybody even remotely resembling a conservative. I am not AT ALL a fan of Romney but you can guarantee that my vote in the crucial state of Ohio will go in his favor. On the same note, those who came out of the woodwork to vote for the black guy simply because he was black won't be as great this time around.

Watch out for the dead and felons. They vote solidly Democrat.
I agree with Bryan. There has been a lot of inside friction within the GOP and lets be real, Romney is not a solid candidate. I think the GOP is letting Obonga win again and for the GOP to do a comeback with perhaps Jeb Bush in 2016.
Yes, the dead, felons, celebrities, leprechauns, unicorns, crocs, 99% of California, gays, hybrid vehicle owners, whores, socialist, and communists are democrats. I assume you guys watched the news yesterday, Obonga and a bunch of rich people went to George Clooney's house for a $40,000 dinner/fundraiser.
These rich people got to know something we don't see or know. I bet they got their cash invested on Obama care, or any other BS programs on the developing phase for 2012-2016. I've never seen so many fundraisers in four years. The media also adore him so, again like Bryan said. Obonga has the high ground.

I don't agree, Romney is a solid candiate, a little more to the left than most, but has a proven track record and NO SKELETONS IN THE CLOSET. We have a close tie to Mitt politically here in Utah and we have seen what he's done. I was also living in Maine when he was the Gov of MA and seen his work. People that think he is weak have not had enough exposure to him.
Again, he is now over 50% of the polls, GW was under 50% for both his election and re-elections.
NO SKELETONS IN THE CLOSET.
very true, I bet the media is hating that, don't you think?

That is totally expected. I bet the media fabricated that faked Obonga birth certificate. I cant wait and see which one they will display on his Presidential Library.
