Seems as though the left side audio in my C4 is kinda weak, especially when I'm using my iPod cassette adapter. Is this a common problem and what are my options to repair? (there is no balance control, correct?).
(I'm already aware I could rip the Bose system out. I'm not ready to do that yet...so other options).

Ripping out the Bose is not a good option unless you want to live with the SYS warning on your display for the rest of eternity. This will sound like a dumb answer to your dumb question, but try tugging on the wire going into your cassette deck. It will sometimes help the heads line up and improve the audio, it worked for me.
Don't you think that answer is worth say a million barn bucks?

There is a balance function, but it is only available on the Tech1 scanner for diagnostic use. The best you can do on the knob is fade front/rear.
You might have a speaker amp giving up- I had to replace 3 out of 4 on mine. Search threads on the subject, you may be able to find Nissan ones from late 90's maximas and infinitis that are newer units than the 20 year old vette ones. They plug in the same.
The 92-96 C4 left side is "weaker" than the right. All of my C4 had it and it is normal and it is a fixed setting. Another beautiful C4 design by engineers with high level education.
Thats what happened when non-gear heads engineers work on cars.

:iagree: Mine does the same....but try wiggling the cassette adaptor. It helps the heads line up, and (marginally) improves the sound.

I replaced all of mine, yet I dont have the SYS light on all the time. Am I being ripped off?
I still have the deck though. 93 orange and black.

Also... try reaching your finger in and pushing the tape down. My Yukon did the exact same thing.

DR Don's can convert the tape channel into a dedicated aux input with a jack in the front face- of course the tape won't work anymore (that way it will match the broken CD player).

I may do that conversion. If it cost about the same as the Pioneer I installed in The Ghost, then I buy a second one.
That radio is pretty good. CD, USB, Aux 1, Aux 2, MP3, iPod and 5 different equalizers. The only think I dont like is the blue color.

There's a guy on flea-bay that sells refurbed old GM radios that have an extra jack input installed. Might want to look into that so you can keep that tape deck ready for when you return to the cassette fold :D

No, the Nissans just used the same type of speaker amp as the vettes did- it was a pretty standard 90's Bose product just slightly tuned differently for different speaker sizes. Just so long as you use rears on the bigger speakers and the fronts on the fronts, it sounds the same in the vette- just consider yourself lucky to have functional speaker amps at all on a C4.
I don't know what the C6 bose system looks like (I have the base delco). I have to say the C6 isn't really any better.

You should have seen the $10 antenna I bought for my 95...lol (it was 1" tall). power antenna had to go- I broke it off in a gas station car wash. haha.

If my power antenna quits working, I'll put in a hidden antenna and seal off the hole. I think the antenna on a C4 looks goofy to begin with.....any antenna.

:iagree: I removed the inoperative antenna on mine and the remaining grommet looks better than an antenna. I got one of those "hidden antennas" online and laid it in the channel behind the cargo shade. Works just fine!

I replaced the Bose in my 94 with a Pioneer AVH2300. Also removed all four Bose speakers and replaced them with JL Audio. They fit in the existing locations, and to eliminate the SYS light we included a resistor inline with the power supply. The resistor was part of an install kit that the store recommended.
Next up is a sub in the rear passenger side storage compartment, and amp under the passenger seat. :seasix:
