Storm that produced baseball sized hail is heading his way and appears to have gotten stronger. Also had a tornado warning from it.

That radar capture is from the 13wmaz.com website. I just drug it to the Louisville area.

Hail aloft is 3.75 inches. Still lots of hail, but the hail core seems to have noticeably shrunk.

BTW, a small storm is hitting us now...
Golf ball size hail hit Churchill Downs.

Holy f'n chit.
Golf ball sized + hail HURTS LIKE A MOFO!!!!
But.... I saved the truck. (I think)
I put a comforter over the hood and shut it so it was held in place and put some big bathroom suction cup floor rugs over the roof. I left as much hang over the sides as I could.
Hopefully it worked. I can see dents in the neighbors truck hood from inside my house. :ack:

Just let it total the truck...
If it would total it, I would let it go.
In reality, what will happen is that it will do a ton of damage but not get anywhere close to the value to total it (2012 Denali HD diesel). So I would then be left arguing with an insurance company to try to get repairs made that will never actually be as good as it was before. Even with good body work done... it's just not the same.
I looked pretty close and I think I might have actually managed to protect it. I know I got the hood and roof. The only parts I am worried about are the top of the fenders and the driver's side (wind was blowing that way).
Hopefully it made it through damage free. I'll give it a good look in the light tomorrow morning. At least I know the Vettes are safe and sound in the garage. Of course combined, they are worth less than the truck.
Fingers crossed! :ohnoes:

For some more good news, I just looked outside and the siding on my house is trashed, broken, and has holes in it. All of the window screens are ruined, 1 window is cracked... all sorts of goodness.
Why not add a homeowners claim to the auto claim.

Yeah, we got absolutely clobbered Saturday evening.
Moderate damage to our home and my beater Camry (stays outside, Vette and Odyssey safe in garage) experienced both a cracked windshield and broken passenger side mirror, along with numerous body panel dings.
House has roof damage, vinyl siding cracks, window casing broken, ceiling damage in kitchen due to water intrusion, porch railing broken, porch column torn loose, mailbox dinged up, and that's just what I can see. Adjuster will be on site later on this week.
Hail was the size of eggs and tennis balls, lasted about 15 minutes, followed by a deluge of rain and high winds. It was a like a plague of Biblical proportions! :willy:

Didn't see any. Methinks them mofo's either got smashed by the hail or froze to death during the extreme drop in temps overnight. :)

I had a problem recently with a storm containing large Hail, two car garage and four vehicles,I took packing blankets and covered the hoods and tops of my trucks, best to wet them down because the wind will blow away if dry ,I had no damage .

Yeah, we got the weather radio alert and hunkered safely down in our basement until the all-clear was given. It's been a crazy Spring storm season so far, similar to last year. :willy:
I thought the power might go out or something, but our damage was moderate compared to some of our neighborhood peeps. I felt sorry for the ones who had exposed new and late model cars, for instance, like my next-door neighbor.
They bought a 2011 Kia Sportage SUV six months ago and it got creamed! Their 2009 CTS Caddy got dinged to all hell, too. Like someone peppered it with a BB machine gun.
A guy down the street lost his pristine '06 Nissan 350z, too. I'm sure he has more than $15,000 in go-fast/handling mods alone.

This is very true. The truck is just a truck. It can be fixed or replaced, just like the house, but those possessions sure do cause a lot of grief at times.
Send those prayers to those who need them way more than me and my truck. :)
