My stepdaughter had her last class yesterday and wil graduate with her Master's Degree. This is a first in the family and we are very proud. She's 42 years old, and did all of her college while working and raising two wonderful kids. Paid her own way and no student loans, either. Gonna be one helluva family party next month.:hurray:

GOOD going on the kids for being so goal oriented....

but at age 42, as a practical bastard all my 68 years.....just what does that degree bring to the table?? MONEY wise??

A lot. She already makes 175K as a clinical coordinator for the family birth center at a hospital. (she's an RN with a BSN degree). The Masters degree will open the door to a CNO (chief nursing officer) or even a hospital CEO position. Before she retires I am certain she will make seven figures. At least 500K. The Master's degree cost about 70K, so it's a win. Not bad for some one who started with a GED wipin' asses.

There are no fries in her future.

Yes, to her high school sweetheart and father of her children. She's also drop-dead gorgeous and no, there will be no pics.:D

Congrats man.

It's good to see you support the family. I couldn't even get any of my family to show up to my MS graduation, so I didn't go. :(

They only alloted her five tickets for the graduation cermony. She managed to get a few more from her schoolmates who weren't using them. It's in San Francisco (UCSF) which is about 100 miles from here. Relatives will be flying in to SFO then coming up here for the big party. I volunteered to be the one who stays home to watch the business and take care of the dogs.

Excellent career choice. It's a rewarding occupation, although not just anyone can do it. She's going to make a ton of money, and will find a job waiting anywhere she goes.

My stepdaughter is the 4th generation in her family to be an RN. My wife, and the two generations before her, did the job decades ago for near minimum wage. They did it because they felt it was a calling. The big money didn't come until recent decades.

You should be very proud.
An advanced degree, paying her own way and raising a family is
a monumental achievement.
