View Full Version : Should I? [car show question]

I have a 2005 custom-built 18' car carrier. A year ago, the non-treated () wood finally gave way, while I was transporting my 2005 Corvette back home from Texas. The front tire dropped through the rotten wood and the frame was on the wood.

I pulled out all the wood, then reprimed the steel with a rust primer. I replaced the wood with treated wood, then rewired the trailer with new wire (soldering, not crimping, the connections) and put it all in conduit. I replaced all the lights and added another six marker lamps. :coolest:

It even has brakes.

I freakin' LOVE that trailer. :hearts:

It has its own title and VIN, since it was manufactured in Texas.

So, my question is.. for an upcoming car show this weekend, in addition the cars I am going to enter... would it be absurd of me to add the trailer as another entry?

:dunno:

Car show <> Trailer show

I've got two of those 5' long mirrors from Walmart. I'm thinking about putting them along the sides so people can see underneath the trailer and view the wiring conduit and the finished primer on the steel.

I doubt they have a class for trailers.

This is the first annual (inaugural, technically; although I don't want to appear to be a grammar Nazi) show for this church.

There are no categories for this show. :)

Well provided there's plenty of room, why not?

The church just wants the $25.00 entry fee, so I'm sure they're :coolest: with it.

Imma make up a little placard with a description of the trailer and the work that's been done on it.

I have been to a thousand and never seen a trailer being shown,a vintage roll back but never a trailer, could be a trend setter

Sea Six

I'm thinking about hooking up all the new trailer lights to my laptop, and making a little lightshow.

Maybe add an amplified sound system with a subwoofer, to coordinate with the light show.

And a neon kit. :coolest:

PUZZY, wanna see a REAL wood vehicle overhaul???

visit my sites below....

I think it's photobucket.....the rebuilding of a FORTY year old motor home....

had a fresh good engine in it...chebby 350, so I removed/sold the OEM 350 turbo and built a 700 r4 for it....410 rear gears....FORD rear drums/mechanics on the GM axle.....Chrysler compressor on the aftermarket A/C.....

everthing is new NOW...except the rather unusual siding......

It's just that I've been to car shows where I've seen some vehicle entries that I thought just had to be a joke.

But when I went over and talked to the folks, I found out that they had either owned the vehicle for a very long time, had put a lot of work into it, or both. Then, they figured they'd enter it into a car show so that everyone else could see what they see, and admire it. :ack:

And so, I've just now decided that since I kind of feel the same way about my car carrier trailer, that it would be fitting that I enter it into a show.

:coolest:

I think I'll get those velvet rope things they have at banks to put around the whole thing. You know... so people won't be touching it (and shit).

Post some pics of it.
When you say it is "custom" then say it was made of untreated pine and crimp on connectors, I am now curious to see what the rest of it looks like.
The only trailers I have ever seen at car shows are made from other cars to look like the car towing it.

Oh, it's nothing special. The only thing that's kinda special about it is the two weeks or so of work I put into it fixing it up. :)

Enter it with a car on it so you can beat the church out of $25.00 bucks.:leaving:

His reputation as an allegedly sane person and being laughed at? OP, if you're determined to do this, leave a car on the trailer. If people enjoy looking at the trailer, too, then that's great. I wouldn't show the trailer as a separate entrant.

After taking the pics I remembered that I also set up a :coolest: spare tire carrier, and added a cover so the rubber wouldn't be :hump: by the UV rays.

I also went nuts with the conspicuity stickers and extra reflectors, especially on the rear.

:dunno:

I think "absurd" sums it up very well. That looks like pretty much every car and landscape trailer out there. Your time would be better spent getting one of those dead baby things people lean against their car or maybe a scale model to leave on the air cleaner, just in case people forgot what they are looking at.

Imaybe a scale model to leave on the air cleaner, just in case people forgot what they are looking at.
.

Seen a guy with a black w/gold stripe Mach1 with a 1:12 METAL scale model his air cleaner.

Dip shit forgot it was there and slammed the hood on it.

Fugged up the hood, air cleaner and destroyed the model.

I and several others tried really, really hard not to laugh………… we were unsuccessful. He got all pissed started throwing his signs and stands in the back seat and drove off all PO’ed.

I know the whole "diorama" thing is big at car shows now. Maybe you can get some mannequins and dress them like illegals and have them loading lawnmowers onto it.

Oh hell yeah man. I would love to see an old car/tractor trailer with pressure treated wood for a floor in a car show. I would try to park next to it with my custom floor jack. Next to that I would have my tricked out wheelbarrow. Now that would be a show wouldn't it?
