ANCHORAGE, Alaska - It's Alaska's version of the Powerball, but the winning ticket holders won't be known until next week.

There's no lottery in Alaska, so the state's most popular guessing game is the Nenana Ice Classic.

People pay $2.50 an entry to guess when the ice will go out on the Tanana River in Nenana and tip the tripod placed on the ice.

The ice went out at 7:39 p.m. Monday at this community about an hour south of Fairbanks. It was early this year.

Entries are being tabulated, and manager Cherrie Forness estimates it will be early next week when the winner is known.

The board of directors will meet Thursday night to determine this year's jackpot. Last year, 22 winners equally split $338,062.
