Well it seems lately we just can't catch a break. We had someone put a dog over the fence in April and after extensive out of pocket vacation funds the little guy is doing well. We went to the vet's office Saturday for a checkup on him and two of our other dogs. Ozzie had heartworms and was treated, the vet just needed to listen to his heart and give us some special heartworm medicine for him.
Max gets tested and he is positive for heartworms. We are very meticulous when it comes to ensuring the pets get their heartworm medicine so this floored us to say the least. He is a very healthy 8 year old dog so that is a plus. He also had knee surgery earlier this year, tore a ligament and we had ti repaired.
We are waiting on word from the medicine manufacturer to see if they are going to pay the claim for his treatment. If your pet is on Advantage the medicine isn't 100% effective but they will cover the expenses for the treatment if your pet gets the heartworms.
The cost isn't the big item it is the keeping the pet calm and everything. UGH maybe after this we will catch that break.....
