SF restaurant known for 'rudest waiter' closing

SAN FRANCISCO - A 100-year-old Chinese restaurant in San Francisco known for having "the world's rudest waiter" is shutting its doors.
The San Francisco Chronicle reports that Sam Wo will serve its last customers Friday. Health officials demanded changes after finding violations including rodent activity, improper food storage and kitchen disrepair.
Owner David Ho met with health and fire officials this week, but says the restaurant is just too old.
Sam Wo , a hole-in-the-wall in Chinatown , was famous for the late Edsel Ford Fung, dubbed "the world's rudest waiter." Fung was known for insulting customers and slamming dishes on tables.
He died in 1984, but a sign listing the restaurant's house rules maintained his gruff demeanor. Among its warnings: "No Booze...No Jive, No Coffee, Milk, Soft Drinks, Fortune Cookies."

Im sure the food is good... If there are rodents now, they have prob been in there for a long time. My favorite chinese place is a small "hole in the wall" place decorated in the 60's. Cash only no cards or checks. lol

They haven't run into the bitch that works at Filippi's Pizza Grotto in San Diego's Little Italy :willy:
The meanest, nastiest server I have ever seen :slap:
***Throws silverware on the table, then says "You better know what you want, because I ain't comin' back!"
Brings the food with a check and disappears...***

:funny: I've been to Filippi's a couple of times but I was lucky not to encounter anyone nasty. Good thing, too. It would take 4 grown men to pry my wife's hands from around the bitch's throat. The woman just will not stand for crappy service.

For those who have never been there, SF's Chinatown is a filthy stinking ghetto full of cheap souveneir shops and dive restaurants that I wouldn't let my dog eat at.

It's been a very long time since I've been there, but the New Asia restaurant on Pacific Ave. was always very good. Excellent Dim Sum.

I remember a SF restaurant with just as steep a street in front, it was a large place with a buffet serving style, walking out the door after lunch about a block away, we were looking into the 10th floor of some office building.....
hell of a way to build a city....:hurray::seasix:
