Most of my deep personal thoughts usually stay that way, but I was in the driveway waxing the Vette...must have been about 9:30PM or so. The neighbors were shooting off fireworks. On the stereo, Simon and Garfunkel's song "America" was playing, and an American flag that I have hanging in the garage was moving from a little wind.

I actually sat back, watched the fireworks, listened to the music, looked at the flag and took stock of my surroundings. It made me realize how very lucky I am...and how very lucky we all are...to live in this country. Nice cars, a comfortable home, beautiful children...to have the things that we have and to be able to do the things that we do is something that really makes you want to count your blessings that you're an American. I know I did.
