Sure, it's a candy...but it's also the name given to women who have a Sugar Daddy. There was a show on TV last Fall that featured four of them; here's two of their stories:

Kristen is a 21-year-old pre-law major who has two sugar daddies. She's received about $80,000 from her arrangements. "I'm a super-sexy sugar baby, and I'm so proud of it," she says. "You can walk down the street and find any old nasty hooker, but these guys want a whole girlfriend experience, and that's what I provide. I figured I'm only going to be hot for a little while, so I need to get the money while I can."

Tracy is a 31-year-old unemployed sugar baby with three sugar daddies. "I'm a sugar baby from Washington D.C.," she says. "Being a sugar baby has helped me pay for a lifestyle. As a sugar baby, I do treat it like a business. I have a sugar daddy who, when he gives me money, we have this little thing where I'll open up my Gucci bag and tell him that it's still hungry, and he'll drop money in it. I have three cars that are all paid for. I have Louis Vuitton bags, Gucci bags, and eat at the best restaurants " and at the end of the day, [girls not living the sugar lifestyle] are eating cheeseburgers from McDonald's. Who's stupider?"

I think the show was on Dr. Phil, who I don't watch. What surprisedf me was the poll of peeps on the website: It was about evenly split on whether these women are engaging in the world's oldest professtion: Prostitution.

It is definitely prostitution to me. Although the women were not directly asked whether sex was occurring, I think it's safe to assume it was. For this discussion, let's assume there was sex. So...is it prostitutipn?

If your feeling is, "Hey! If the girls are happy and have found a way to get what they want, that's fine with me", that's not the question. The question is, Are they selling their body for sex and other things? If they're just "Escorts", are escorts prossies?

Any time a sexual relationship hinges on a cashflow, it is prostitution. There are just levels of prostitution. To use a racing analogy, the corner working girl, looking for a john so she can get paid and get her next rock to smoke is go-karting. Sugar babies are in prostitution's F1.

Currency has always been part of the exchange between males and females. That currency might be cash, or influential power within a community, or 1000 years ago it might be the meat you bring back to the tribe.

That meat is legal tender for power within the tribe, trade for goods, or sex.

Think about highschool. Who do the girls want to get with? The best looking, most popular boy in class. That popularity is the currency of high school.

"Love" is simply nature's way of going "that is the healthiest female, that will rear your legacy, continuing your bloodline" to men, and "this is the best male, with the highest probability of being able to provide for you and your brood" to women.

It all comes down to what you can offer a mate in terms of currency. That is nature.

Where we differ from the animals is our belief that we can deny nature and be happy. And we do so successfully a percentage of the time.

She showed me a picture of said escort who she said was 32. The lady looked 47 and rough. She also showed me a picture of the guy who paid her. He was an above average looking guy who could have picked up hotter girls at the bar. To that guy, $350 for guaranteed sex beats a few hours in a bar, $100+, and a chance at sex. It's really not that hard to see his logic.

Back when I was about 19, I knew a girl who had been a sugar baby for about a year. She told me one afternoon after we had *ahem* sex.
