View Full Version : Lawn Mower
So I'm riding my craftsman riding mower cutting the grass when suddenly the steering wheel keeps turning but I keep going straight. Steering Drag Link broke where it goes into the Tie Rod. :issues: It's fun trying to push the mower while turning the wheels with your foot or hand. :leaving:

Kerry, I feel for you. Last weekend I had to replace the motion belt on my rider. Since the old belt broke and got throw off, I had to relay on the shop manual drawing of how the belt works. After 2 hours it hit me that the drawing is looking up at the belt, not looking down. :slap:

Where are the gear selector and the height adjustment? What brand is it?

I got it used last fall. Don't know how old it was before i got it. :leaving:
The hard part is sitting on the seat so it keeps running while trying to reach the front tires.

The height adjustment is on the left fender.
The right pedal controls the forward speed.
Reverse is accomplished using another pedal on the right floor board.
Cruise control is nice.
It's a Craftsman. YTS 4500, 26 horse, 54" cut. Nice & smooth.

Yep! I crashed the Sear's gray lawnmower into the clothesline pole as I came around the corner of the house. I was turning as hard as I could. Cracked the headlight (and I still don't know why it had headlights) and bent the little bumper. John just shook his head. The current lawnmower is orange. I have never been on it! The clothesline pole is still standing!:D

For reasons that escape me now, my wife ended up on the riding mower one Saturday. I explained "the pattern" that should be followed to make for the most efficient process. Half way around on her first pass, she took off a some ridiculous angle across the center of the yard and then kinda hooked around to the fence. I flipped out....she laughed.
She has never mowed one blade of grass since...

It wasn't a contest :slap: I don't iron, she doesn't mow.
I think I just wanted to watch her bounce across the yard...

Somehow I'm not surprised Vic.
Parts got here yesterday from Sears so i took my inexperienced self out there today and figured out how to replace the part. Struggled with it till i had to move the steering back forwards since it went back while trying to use a wrench. Figured out that hole on top of the chassis is an access point for a socket. Much easier through there. :leaving:
