Didn't mean to. It just kinda happened.
Been smoking for 25 years or so. Quit a couple of times, the longest for three years or so. Switched to Al Capone "No Comment" lil' cigars six or seven years ago and really like them. They're dipped in rum, and taste really sweet. I was sick last week with a severe sinus infection. Fever of 102 for four days, missed work after Tuesday, had a Zpak, lotsa cough medicine, couldn't eat, lost 14 pounds! Smoked a couple cigars a day, but skipped Sunday. Then Monday I just didn't fire up, and didn't again Tuesday. Went to shoot pool tonight, and smoked one. Just didn't taste good. like my lil' smokes always have. Damn, I was disappointed. Guess I'll just quit for a while.

Good for you, keep it up. :seasix:

Funny you mentioned shooting pool. I was up to two packs a day (Kool Menthols, lung bleeders) and in a pool league game, was sick as a dog, something like you had. Smoked for twenty years (15-35) stopped that night cold turkey. Thought my chest was caving in. Haven't had a butt since, 65 now, I'd a never made it this far.

Good for you. July 1 will be five years for me. Nothing like being diagnosed with leukemia and facing chemo to motivate you to quit.

Whatever it takes, do NOT pick it up again.

THIS!!!! Not even "just one"! :nono:

August 17 will be 9 years for me (Wow! 9 yrs!! From 2003) Was absolutely THE smartest thing I've ever done. :yesnod: (That and divorcing wife #1, crazy bitch!)

You can do it man! We're all here behind you! If you decide that you don't WANT to smoke, that's most of the battle right there.

A friend just quit smoking. He's 66 and he's been smoking for 57 years. That's no typo; he started smoking when he was 9 years-old. If he can quit, anyone can. Good luck to you. Now if you'll excuse me, I've got to find some baked ziti or I'm going to hurt someone, thank you very much Mr. Mercury.

I wasn't trying to quit. It just kinda happened. I've done it before, and when I had jobs where I was off work for three or four days I didn't smoke then. I got up to a pack and a half a day of cigs before I switched to cigars. I've always been able to take or leave it. Usually I'll get to wanting one again and start back up. Just seems different this time. They don't taste good anymore.

Now that I think about it, my only successful attempt at quiting (ten years ago) did not involve a lot of premeditation. I just did it.

No one likes a quitter!!

My wife and I both quit in November, she hasn't had one since, I, on the other hand, started back up last month while dealing with a lot of stress!! I never was a heavy smoker tho. A pack will last me a week or longer.

Go for it . You wont be sorry
July 1 will be five years for me. Nothing like being told you have to go through chemo for a chronic leukemia condition to get you to quit.

I smoked from 15 till I was 26. Started running a lot, a few 10K's and daily runs. I thought how dumb it was to be running and smoking so I quite. I didn't even want a cigarette until I was on my last ship. I figured either I smoked or kicked the crap out of the engineering officer and ruin my career. I opted for a smoke.
About two years later I wanted High Speed Internet and made a deal with my wife. I said if I quit smoking I'd get DSL. She laughed and said I wouldn't put the cigarettes down. I quit right then, 16 years ago, and haven't touched one since.
Of course that Baked Ziti looks real good even at 7 in the morning.

Good luck with not smoking. :hurray:
