Loooooong day at the hospital today but the good news is the fluid retention seems to be just that and not caused by anything sinister.

Quick recap - last week I was dehydrated and ended up at the ER on Thursday. Thursday night I ended up in surgery to remove my Lapband which had slipped. I immediately had a 30 lb weight gain (fluid).

Monday I had severe edema and was sent home to rest. It only got worse and there was concern I was having acute renal failure brought on by the contrast dye used for the CAT scan. That is what sent me to the hospital today.

PS can I just say that you guys are an awesome distraction when one is stuck in the hospital :-)

Anyway - I was poked, prodded, x-rayed, neutered (well maybe not neutered) and finally sent home after an IV shot of diuretic and more diuretic pills to take till the fluid is gone.

So thank you VB for your humor and support. Here's to feeling better and having more fun things to post about.

Thanks. Me too. I am normally a pretty healthy person so having all this stuff happen suddenly has been a little shocking.

I'm tired and my eyes aren't very good, when I first glanced at the title of your thread I thought it said, "Urinate On Me."

Edit: Oh, and I'm glad you're feeling better. :)

No worries. The original plan was for me to stay at this place about 6 months to get my skills sharp again. It' s been about that long. My recruiter asked if I wanted to go right back to work and I said "I'm gonna take a little time."

Well I currently have 2 kidney stones one in the left & one in the right ureters & my penis is burning due to some rogue bacteria that the cipro couldn't kill. Now I'm on Macrobid. Hopefully it will get rid of it.

You could have Joebuck try to suck the bacteria out.

Girl, I'm exhausted just reading your post!!! I'm glad it was "just" fluid retention. I know that had to be scary, especially on top of everything else you've been through in the last week. Hope you're all better SOON!!!

edema - the first jump-to-conclusions diagnosis is usually kidney problems.

I'm glad to hear that this apparently isn't it (and I think you know why :) )
