"The Hunger Games" raked in an estimated $155 million in its opening weekend.

But is it dope or doody? Who here's peeped it? :confused5:

Saw it. Loved it. I read the books before hand which I would definitely recommend. The movie adhered pretty closely, but having read the book gave me a deeper understanding of the story line.

What a goober. What grown man in his right mind would read all three of those books? :skep:

I started the third one this weekend. :D

Just finished the book. It's a PG rated Japanese Battle Royal. Will see the movie this week.

I haven't seen the movie, but Yvonne is reading the book.

From what's she's described; it's a little bit of Max Max Thuderdome/The Running Man mixed together.

Interesting tidbit; the book was released over a year ago; and was initially given away for free to Kindle owners; wasn't all that popular. It's only gained traction lately due to the movie release.

Star Jennifer Lawrence is a Louisville gal, too.

As a brunette, I thought she was your girl actress Rachel Parsons at first. See the resemblance?

I'm not going to say it was bad, but it wasn't as great as it could have been and fell flat at times. I had to explain a few things to my sister who didn't read the book

Wife dragged my big ass to see it with her Friday night. Didn't read the book, and won't. Shitty movie too, but that may be because of my sheer lack of interest in anything like this.

Never heard of it. :(

I thought it was another contest thing like Special Olympics when I saw this thread, but otherwise, I know absolutely nada about any of it.

Critic Mr. Moviephone ragged on it this Saturday during The Weekend Express on CNN. He definitely panned it as "doody."

My daughter has read the books and is stoked to peep it. Maybe I'll take her this weekend.

Haven't seen Hunger Games yet, but I have seen John Carter and I haven't got a clue what all the naysayers are talking about. Great movie. Marketed wrong, but great movie.

Saw it yesterday. I liked it, but I'm a sucker for strong female protagonists.

I thoroughly enjoyed the movie John Carter, and I expected to hate it.

My neighbor and his wife saw it, and they weren't too impressed....According to him,the story line was unbelievable, and the violence for the sake of violence was too much....And this was from a Nam vet..... I gotta believe him....I'll maybe see it on DVD, but I doubt it.

I saw it, girlfriend read all 3 books and I not a 1 of them. It was 'ok' but there seems to be some serious backstory and character development missing that the books have. It was probably better to get it as a rental than going to see it.

Disney is expected to lose $200M on John Carter.

That is what Disney themselves are claiming, which was a shame. They shouldn't have made that statement. It tells the public they have given up on the movie, so it must be shit. Which is incorrect.

It's also their fault the movie has tanked. People aren't even giving it a chance, a sign that the marketing was crap.

It is also rated incorrectly. It should be rated PG, not PG13. There is no language, no sex and what violence there is doesn't even come close to what the kids today are participating in while playing modern video games.

It's a bummer, because the movie is really very good.

Took Maribel to see THG today. I'm not really into this sort of thing, but she really wanted to see either this or the John Whoever movie, so I opted for THG.

Decent flick, wait for it to hit cable. :seasix:

There ya go.

Well, with a lock on the barn door, I was forced to do "real life activities". I read all three books of the Hunger Games.

Anyone have any other suggestions?:waiting:
