Jeff Lynne and ELO. The very attractive blonde is his GF at the time, Rosie Vila, a model and singer in her own right:

Personally I'd go with Built to Spill. Great band, been together for close to 20 years, still playing in small clubs although they are signed to a major label.

America was pretty damn good

America - Sister Golden Hair (HQ Original) - YouTube
The Call
The band was really the surround for Michael Been, but the message and the sound was pure and true. Michael passed away in 2010 and his music is hard to get these days, but for me it is the essence of why people create music.

Any qualifications? I think there were a lot of good bands that didn't do much, then a lot of bands that didn't get the credit they deserve but have been around forever.

Gotta go with Tesla

They were always grouped in as a hair band, but they were anything but. They practically created MTV Unplugged.

Lots of great talent that doesn't seem to garner the attention that others do in this industry.
Plenty to choose from, but on basis of a group you almost never hear about other than the few tunes that got air play (that I never cared for)
