My PC is at least ten years old :leaving: I never was heavy into gaming or anything else with it. So it works fine for internet access and an older version of Paintshop. I got the new version of PS and it will not run on my machine. Tech support says it's because of the AMD processor. The HDD is large enough and I have plenty of space left on it. So I'm wondering if it is cheaper to replace the motherboard & memory vs. buying a new box. I already have a nice monitor. Video and HDD controller are imbedded.

Thanks.

With a computer of that age, you'll be hard pressed to find a motherboard to support the older components; ram, ide drive, ...

Sounds like you don't need much, so just grab a new computer for $300-400. Will be way less of a headache that way.

No doubt. Plus a new $300 unit will be 10 times faster.

And to think that in '95 I spent 3500 bux on my first PC, and it was just dialup to boot....
