A buddy of mine decided to take his wife out for a nice dinner the other night and started a discussion about it on Google+. Basically, he said he'd rather go to a really nice place once every 2-3 months then go to an average place once a month.

Which do you prefer...quality or quantity?

Since I'm more comfortable in a casual setting, I'd go for quantity. :seasix:

Me too, all day long.

Yep, Quantity. Not the type to have to dress up in my Sunday best to go have dinner and drinks.

Unless it's an anniversary - I don't plan on dressing up and spending big bux for a dinner for two. Another one that's a fan of quantity.

I feel the same way for the most part.

Personally, the more the food cost, the less I usually enjoy it. I have very simple tastes, so fancy food does nothing for me. A $10 steak on my grill taste just as good, if not better, than a $50 steak at a nice restaurant. I'd also rather have a soda with my steak than a nice glass of wine.

That being said, I agree with him that at that price point you cut out the riff-raff. You get great service. You don't have a baby crying at the next table over. You don't have a lot of the distractions you'd find at a regular restaurant.

I've been fortunate enough to experience some of the nicer things money can buy on occasion through some friends. I prefer to do the same things and go the same places as the "common man", but to do them in a nicer fashion. For example, watching a college football game in a suite beats the hell out of the student section. Watching a NBA game two rows up from the floor kills sitting in the nose bleed section. Same game...same people....just MUCH nicer.
