So now that I've been working on my 32.... I really have to say that I thoroughly enjoy restoring and bring back life into older forgotten about cars. That being said here's a quick story about my newest project! My girlfriends dad loves European cars. Currently owns a 74 sl450 vert. But for years he's been telling me about how he has wanted a volvo p1800.... Well the other day he went to an open house and there was p1800 in the garage. Tires were flat and it was covered in dust. Looked like it had been sitting for years. So he got in touch with the owner and they struck a deal. Since they were moving and he didn't want to have to pay to transport the car he would sell it. Sure enough he sold it to my girlfriends dad for next to nothing. Catch is the car doesn't run. We had it towed tO his house this weekend and we started getting at it. Bob (my girlfriends father) cleaned her up. While I got cracking on the mechanicals! Should have her running in a weekend or two! I'm very excited for him. Looks like this is going to be a real solid car!

Only pic I have from this morning. Paint is an 8 out 10. The chrome is 8 out of 10. And the interior is 7 out of 10. The thing is incredible shape. Oh yeah and it only has 38,000 miles on

Will do man! This is yet again an exciting project for me! I'm not familiar with these volvos at all. But just going over it this weekend, I can't believe how wonderfully basic they are! Like I said! Hope to get it running this week (depending on when bob gets the parts in).

Anyone else wrenching on a friends cool maybe older car?

Not really...

that vovlo is pretty classic, but I recall working on some early 80's ones...did you know the B18/ B20 4 cyl have fiber type timing gears? I had to replace one that stripped out once. Very unique...not Saab Unique, but a little different.

Kind of reminded me of the run-quiet nylon geared timing sets from the 60's on detroit iron.

I did not know that! BUT I do know that it's pretty sweet that it's only a little 120 cubic inch motor that's powering a 4 speed with over drive and a solid rear axle! Hahah! Pretty cool :)

Over heat kill those timing gears pretty easily? I'll have to be sure to keep that in mind when going over everything.
