It wasn't this color grip when she first saw, and tried it, but after looking online, she likes this color.

2-SW150468FC - S&W Model 638 Bodyguard Airweight Revolver .38 Special +P J-Frame Stainless Steel Pink Grips (http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/2SW150468FC-1.html)
What does +P mean ?
Any comments on her choice of pistol ?. She's 5'4", 115 lbs, and petite. She can handle a Super Red Hawk, no problem.
+P mean you can use a hotter ( faster) load. Many Self Defense rounds are sold that way.

:iagree: Yeah, what he said...
+P means +Pressure. It will handle .38 Special +P ammunition (ammo loaded to a higher pressure than standard .38's). These will still be less powerful than .357 Magnum. I would shoot standard .38's. More recoil is no fun in the lightweight revolvers.
Sharp looking little gun, bet it conceals well! :seasix:

I have fired that gun with the hottest +P load available. The recoil is substantial and even with standard .38s it's a handful.....I would not recommend that weapon for a woman......:)

+1 There's no weight in the frame to control some of the recoil, so it's all going to go into her hand and wrist.
Better option (IMO), same calibers, similar size, but a little heavier to control recoil is the Ruger SP101

You can always get a replacement 'cute' pink handle for it!

I will, but hat won't be for a while....She won't have her NYS CCW for another 8-12 months. My aunt has the same pistol with the black grip that she can shoot anytime she wants, though. I have two 9mm's for now, so she'll have to just wait...

Thanks for that advice.:cert:.... I really have to get her to my aunt's place to try that out, before she actually buys it.....I do like the beefier Ruger too, but the S&W name is legendary, and everyone must have a S & W .38...
We'll see how she really likes it after 50 or so rounds, and go from there.:yesnod:

It takes 8-12 months to get a permit to carry?

Ya, it's inane here in Erie county.

Two counties down it's 6 weeks....It's so arbitrary in NYS, it's ridiculous...

I have carried this for about ten years.Last year I had the opportunity to shoot the SW Airweight .357......The recoil pretty much takes away the chance for a second shot.I'll stick with my SP-101..........:)

Has anyone shot the S&W 642 with this grip ? Maybe the recoil would be better absorbed by my wife with this pistol, as opposed to the 638 Airweight. ?
