View Full Version : Took the Vette to the Vet! [PICS]

Was playing ball with my labs, Chip n Dale. Dale somehow busted his dewclaw!

I only have the Vette. Normally, I just walk the dogs to the vet down the street.

Could not do that with a broke and painful dewclaw. Put a blanket and rug in

the SQUREL passenger side. Loaded Dale in the Vette (for the first time) and

off the to the Vet we go!

Getting sleepy after the Doc gave him a shot to make him sleep so they could work on his paw!

Didn't think of that! But I did put a throw rug down on the custom floor mat, so it would have not been too bad! Glad I did not have to find out!

Lucky they only gave him a local to make him sleepy and not put him all the way out under anesthesia.

Had it been Chip, he would have puked. He has a week stomach!

Years ago I went on a mountain run and we were driving HARD. All of a sudden one of the guys in the pack pulled off abruptly. After we all circled around to check up on him he see his poor lab hurling on the shoulder of the road.. lol

She got motion sick. He ended up pulling up to a boat ramp to try and wash the mat.

Oh yea, that's how I knew something was wrong. I saw blood on the cement porch. As I tried to get him calmed down and lay down so I could look at it and see what was wrong, blood was everywhere! Oh crap, I need to go wash the porch down.....brb!

Thanks guys and gals, I'm glad he is ok too! Doc said it was cracked way up in the dewclaw bone. So I'm hoping the meds, doc quick fix and wraps are enough to heal it. Other wise it will be a bigger vet bill to cut it off completely!

Oh and another ride in the Vette!

Took the Vette to the vet??

Not on a bet!!

Are we there yet?

We should get set!

He'll put you into debt!

Next he'll want to ride in a jet!

Just think of all the people he's met.

But he's a great pet, even when he's wet.

(wouldn't Dr. Seuss be proud?) :D

Looks like he had fun, did you go to a drive through to treat him to a sandwich on the way home?

A buddy of mine always buys his dog a double burger and fries :yesnod:

Looks like a happy pup... despite the hurt paw!

Funny that my dog absolutely LOVES going for rides in the truck but hates the Vette.

Poor pup. Glad Dale will be ok.

Cami feels his pain. She tore hers too. It was at night and the grass had a heavy dew. She saw a rabbit and took off to the side after it and ripped her dew claw.

I grew up a country girl in farm land. As much as I love my pets, I can not see paying for pet insurance. I just save up for unexpected emergencies like this.

After all Chip and Dale are 10 yr old. I know its a matter of time, and I only have a few more yrs with them. :sadangel: I just cherish the time I have with them now. :yesnod:

Death is the only downside to pet ownership. It's absolutely heart-wrenching to lose 'em. :sadangel:

Yeah, that was seriously jacked up. Didn't know anything about heartworm vaccinations, back then. Learned the hard way. :sadangel:

Our English Bassett Hound, Clarence, had to be put down due to mulitple old age complications (including kidney failure). The two German Shepherds, Commander and Mr. Dee, was a shocker.
