I love old VWs! His is good-looking. VWs were one of the great automobile ideas: Cheap, great gas mileage, cute, and durable.

I had more fun for less money with my $500 '66 Bug than most of my other cars combined.

That was my first car back in 1972 that my dad bought me. I sold it in 1978 since I already had another car - 1971 El Camino. The VW is a great and easy car to work on. Almost like working on your lawn mower.

I had a '67 but mine was tan. Not much power but ran pretty good :seasix:

I had the use of my mothers 69 or 70 baby blue bug all thru high school. Had such fun that that car. It survived a lot of abuse but it couldn't survive my brother...

Thanks. The bug has never been wrecked or to a mechanic. My dad has always been the one to work on it. It has been painted once.

Yep. The "Peoples Car". But he was long gone by the time they reached our shores: 1949. The car was a good idea, despite it's history.
Beautiful bug! First car was a 65 orange Type III. Bought it with baby blue wheels and a chain link steering wheel. Replaced the whole motor in 1978 for $400 including labor. Water came in to the floorboards through the vents. Every 6 months or so the accelerator cable would break right at the gas pedal. I kept a pair of vice grips in the car so that I could clamp onto the broken cable and reach under the dash for throttle. Still in love with that car. Probably because it had room to lie down in the back...:hurray:

I have a Type II transporter (single cab) ... nice torch red behind though. I want a '00 Vert for me and Yamma again.

I had a '66 Fastback for five years I got from my uncle. Great lil' car. Also a '68 Van I also got from the same uncle. He had it for over twenty years, and it was the first stick I ever drove (in 1977!) I also had a '68 Custom Bug that was very nice.
Good lookin' bug there!

I went to the swap meet/auction yesterday at Talladega and there was one rough bug. Only one. Of course, there was not a lot there at all in my opinion. there were some pretty good deals on vettes I thought.
There was an old, frame off restored 63 silver coupe just like mine but I was too stupid to ask the price.
