This is what happens when you live in third world country like Canada.

Not trying to start a Canada bashing thread since this could just as easily have happened in MA. I am just shocked at how far people are willing to go to cover their asses.

It's getting bad.We had a young man expelled from high school here this week because a teacher saw a steak knife in the back of the students truck, turned out he was helping a friends parents move over the weekend and it fell out of a box of kitchen utinsils, this kid has an A average and an Eagle scout. His family has lawyered up,and the kids in his school have begun collecting funds to pay for the lawyer fees. No tolerance ,right.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions...just saying
This is why parents MUST teach their children NOT to talk to police, teachers, or other authority figures. This is why D.A.R.E. programs are pure evil....they train kids to be snitches against their family and friends.
Govt pumps kids for information to use against parents. There are no innocent questions.
It's sad that kids need to learn lessons like this at age 4. And we wonder why kids seem to grow up so fast these days.
We worry about protecting kids from the bad guys....it seems we also have to protect ourselves from the good guys.
It's a shame it has come to this, and this happens in America, too, this isn't just a Canadian thing.
Edit: we see how something as innocuous as "my daddy protects me from bad guys and monsters" turned out....child welfare, public humiliation and strip search. What if the kid had said something more off the wall? Kids do have imaginations, at least until we crush their souls.
That. Is. Insane.

:iagree:
But what do you expect as the nanny state keeps getting bigger and bigger? It's happening all over North America and it will lead to our downfall.

I drew pictures of guns, and monsters, and trucks, and monster trucks with guns, ad nauseum when I was a kid. I used to kill of my classmates in my spelling class stories and read them aloud for hilarity hijinx. Now that would get me put in state custody and my parents arrested.

While I get the jist...little extreme there...how about those molested and abused kids, I'm sure the perpetrator would love it if the childrenwere taught "NOT to talk to police, teachers, or other authority figures"

Kids should be able to talk to police, teachers, etc, but those authority figures should also learn to not act like psychopathic chicken littles.

The law dictates their actions. They MUST turn in those kids or their parents, or THEY may face charges, just as doctors in hospitals are required by law to notify law enforcement when someone comes in seeking treatment for a gunshot.
In this case, hearing "my daddy has a gun....." was enough to set off the chain of events we read about.

It's sad. I remember that on opening day of dove season the parking lot at my high school was littered with pickups whose gun racks held 12 gauges.
Nobody called the cops and nobody thought about swiping the weapons.

He got off real lucky. The foster child situation up there is a scam that funnels huge amounts of tax payer money to relatives of politicians. You don't have to commit a crime to lose your kids up there.
