One of mine has a digital combo, the other a dial.
No fingerprint scanner.
The local vette shop here is also a gun shop. The owner uses the fingerprint scanner type and spoke highly of it.

So.....you're arming yourself?
I would reccomend a keypad if one has small children.

I've never had an issue with guns. Its all about education and training. My wife is the one that doesn't care for them and i have never had any out of respect for her. She is starting to come around on the topic and i am starting at square one with her which is securing the gun(s) so that kids can't get to it. Next step will be a class/trip to a range, and so on..

My wife and I each got one of these:
Amazon.com: Gunvault GV1000C-DLX Mini Vault Deluxe Gun Safe: Home Improvement@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51TpASM-tDL.@@AMEPARAM@@51TpASM-tDL
Eventually we'll have to get something larger for newer stuff.
We didn't go with the biometric ones as we've heard they're not as reliable.

I have 2. One is a 4 button one and the other is a finger print scan type. I am happy with both of them. They are mainly used to keep the kids away.
My kids know better, but I could never forgive myself if something happened to them because of my carelessness.

I don't have any rifles, but own a small collection of handguns (five, so far, and a gun show this weekend!). Like Blademaker, I also have the digital type safe in my closet to store the guns and a couple thousand rounds of ammo. Mine is also the six digit combo type. The trick is to pick a combo easy to do in the dark, if necessary. We sleep with one on each nightstand, but backup is only a few feet away if needed!:seasix:

Can you program two sets of finger prints(me and the wife) into one of those or is it one set of prints per box or is it a button sequence box?

We didn't get the biometric ones, so I dunno. We can do a 3-6 (or 8) digit code.

Don't know about fingerpads but the keypad I have becomes inoperable if a wrong series of 6 numbers is entered. Only have to wait 15 seconds or so the first time but that doubles for every wrong number series entered after that.

Liberty Lincoln. It's a big one but the same keypad must come on the smaller models? This is the only picture I have of the keypad -

KWIKVAULT (http://www.kwikvault.com/)
I have the DM 100 (digital combo / push button ) and the BM 100 models (Biometric). The BM can store up to 100 different fingerprints.
They also come with a cable to attach it to something secure. Some times I take mine and wrap it around the seat base that is mounted to the floor of the car.
Works pretty good.
