Ahead of their 50th anniversary reunion tour, Beach Boys Mike Love, Al Jardine, Bruce Johnston and David Marks perform live on stage with Brian Wilson for the first time in over two decades. At the Grammys:

IMHO, I thought it was a bit painful! I thought Adam Levine did a better job of singing BBoy songs.
I thought these guys get together every year at a few baseball game venues??

First off - - --I think i'm older than dirt ..

I thought it was actually ok, however I think rock stars should quit while they are ahead. So many I think muddy their image a bit by doing these geriatric events.

Just printing what they had on the site. BTW, I saw the Beach Boys more than 30 years ago. Just as good in person as on their albums. The audience kept waiting for them to appear on stage. They were at the sound mixing area in the audience playing with the controls, and they simply strolled to the stage.

I had a hard time determining if they were actually singing.

You thought they were lip-syncing? That didn't enter my mind, but I guess it's possible.

I usually watch the Grammys because it's fun to see the other "stars" appreciate their fellow performers. Like Paul McCartney cheering Glen Campell, Glen Campell cheering the Beach Boys, everyone cheering the tribute to Whitney Houston. Plus, everything is live and seems more real.

They were playing within sight of my house about ten years ago. Sounded pretty good as I was tending my garden.

Remember the "wall of sound" developed by Phil Spector? That perfectly describes the Beach Boys in concert.
ANY band or person who tries to sing songs that they did 25 years ago should be shot.:issues:
They all sound like crap to me, and quite honestly are embarrassing themselves.
I don't quite get it.:shots:
PS> Once in a great while there is an exception.

Did you happen to see the Doo-wop reunion on PBS several years ago? While I'm not a Public Television or Radio supporter, that special was great. The groups they had on not only sounded just like they did 40-50 years ago, they were still showmen, worth listening to, and likely reunited for the last time ever.

I would have watched the grammy's if I would have known the BB were to appear.
It appeared that no one from the current genre knew who they were/are.
History my friends, they are what many of us grew up with.

I saw them when they launched their 25th Anniversary tour at the Forum in LA back in the day.
I'm a fan. Have the boxed CD set of their original masters.

Would of been better if Bowser and Sha-na-na was there.
Finally had to post...
They were terrible. They looked like a bunch of Alzheimer's patients at the home doing a show. The in-tune voices were supplied by others. Brian Wilson was sporting a goiter. Mike Love looked like the starter at a muni golf course.
It's over. Just let it go...:sadangel:

Sporting a goiter.......:rofl::rofl:
Are they old and slightly out of tune from what they used to be? Sure.
But they have been my favorite group since I was little, and seeing as though I wasn't here in the 60's and 70's to enjoy them in their prime - I will totally be going to see them on this tour.
They recently auctioned off a signed SMILE surf board......too bad it went for $3k - I wanted it. :D

I grew up in SoCal in the 60's and 70's. It was them and Zep. It made me sad to see them trying to make a few more bucks, even if they really need it.

Me too. Was a great place to grow up. :cert:
You think they were bad? You should hear Don McLean sing "American Pie."

I'm 47, and started getting into their music when I was a teenager. I think their music is great for the harmony, etc... Another thing about it is the California dream. California = sun, fun, surfing, hot rods, girls, Corvettes, etc...at least in the 60s that seemed to be what Calif. was about. Growing up and living my life in GA. I always dreamed about what they were selling in those songs. I saw them in concert in the early 80s. I saw part of the awards show the other night. I think it was wonderful for them to reunite while a couple of them are still alive...regardless of how they sounded as the old men they are today.
