It's a bit long, and the model S is in the video too. Very interesting idea for a SUV/crossover.

Here is a short version

Gull wing doors? Really?

Not quite. They are hinged differently and actually appear to work well in this application.

Tesla is moving in the right direction, but aren't there yet. Not by a longshot.
Until such time that limited range is overcome, they have nothing to interest most of us...

I didn't want to watch the whole 27 minute video. What's the projected price? I couldn't find one on their website. I like Tesla's designs, but they need to come outside of their Palo Alto bubble and realize that a six-figure price is a non starter for most of the market.

No clue, pricewise but the last "S" model I saw was $80K. It won't be cheap.

IMO: Tesla should follow the model of Carroll Shelby. The Cobra was an existing car, Bristol Ace, allowing most of attention to focus on mechanicals. We all know how that turned out.
I am far more interested in what a Tesla can DO than how it looks...

The model X is revealed ~the 15-18 min mark. Pricing hasn't been announced yet. Also remember that Tesla has set it's sights on the "premium" market, so they are trying to battle the likes of MB, Audi, Porsche, etc.

The Model S will range from $60k-$80k depending on which battery pack is selected. I imagine the Model X to be close to it, probably a little bit more. The roadster for the most part is a Lotus. Most of the car is actually built by Lotus and then shipped to CA. The Model S and X are clean sheet designs so we will get a chance to see what Tesla is capable of.

and what application might that be, the rollover test?

Huh?

Huh?

You said the gullwing doors work well for this application and I said what application would that be, the rollover application meaning those death trap doors wouldn't work that well if the car rolled over and ended up ON IT'S ROOF.

Comprende?

Got that part, just it wasn't what I was referring to so it seemed outta left field. Maybe you're right, but what if it actually does well in said safety tests?

The model S has a 300 mile range.
