The Citizen Ecodrive system is pretty slick. as well as the other technology in watches that keeps them charged/wound/whatever you call it, with movement.

so why haven't any phone manufacturers put this technology into our phones to extend battery life? granted the ecodrive probably couldnt run my phone, but i bet the trickle charge sitting on my desk all damn day would be a marked improvement. as well as the movement stuff for when you're walking around.

i recall reading a story about Apple filing a patent that included a solar receptor as part of the display screen.

they had a few test units out; but people were getting funny looks from the public when recharging...

I would guess that modern/smart phones would require a lot more power than could be generated by motion like a mechanical watch.

Probably have to drive 80 over speed bumps in my F350 to keep my iPhone charged.
