Surprised the wife and ordered a couple of Giordano's pizza for delivery. They arrived around 3. The Fed Ex lady was drooling over the box and asking if she could stay for dinner.
I can smell them baking in the oven!:hurray::hurray:

:seasix:I don't ever go into the city unless I have to for a client.

That being said, I've got a meeting at 10am and a dinner at 7pm tomorrow in the city :banghead:

We have most of the pizza joints in the suburbs too thank god! :D

I don't drink but the wife enjoyed a few Sam Adams Winter ale. She said the beer complimented the pizza.

Truck Guy, I wish we had something close here in SW Indiana to even resemble real pizza. About once or twice a year I order Giordano's online and we feast on it. I brought home a Pizza about 4 years ago while I was in Chicago for training. Every since then my wife has been hooked on the deep dish pizza.

IMO, they don't. I guess you have to have had the real thing to understand.

If you were talking Philly cheese steaks then yes, pizza no. We prefer Chicago style over New York or Philly style.

I visited Chicago about 15 yrs. ago for work. They brought in several pizza's from one of the famous places...I can't remember the name though. It was great ! But, I wonder if ordering this online and cooking it in the oven is worth the $$$ ? There is a local place that makes Chicago style fresh...it would cost me a lot less to get one locally...unless this is really worth the extra money ?

I've had them made by a local pizza joint here. $30.00. It was good, but nothing like Malnati's.
I've been to Giordano's on Rush Street, but didn't have the deep dish.
I've been to Malnati's places in the burbs of Chicago, and always take a frozen pie home (same as what they ship - in dry ice).

Fed Ex delivered your pie? Do they do that? I thought all they brought was plain brown wrappers for marital aids?

I haven't tried a Hunt Bros. either. But some people I work with rave about them...

I like Giordano's but my favorite place for pizza in Chicago is Pizzano's on State Street. We get it to go and take it back the the condo building we stay at when we're there. They make a great Chicago-style thin crust. Giordano's on Rush is one block from our condo building.

I've had this debate over and over again in my head. I've had their pizza, and it is absolutely the best I've ever had...but $80? I haven't caved and ordered it yet.

I do order Portillo's Italian beef at least once a year though.

I'm no pizza snob, but I like those rectangular-shaped pizzas they used to serve in the grade school cafeterias. I think they're still distributed by Cisco Foods, Inc.

There is a Giordano's about a block and a half from the office.

Maybe I'll have pizza for lunch.

Or, Grease-a-Hut. Wick's and Mama Bearno's Sicilian Style Pizza kicks ass locally, though. :hurray:

With the almost like real cheese that only melted part ways and came off as one sheet of cheese when you ate it? :)

Some of the best pizza I've ever had though has been from convenience stores and/or hole in the wall shops.

Although my favorite pizza shop is in Anaheim - called Pizza Rosa. They make a 36" pie that is da bomb!!!

Thing is a monster: Photos for Italian Pizza Rosa | Yelp (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/_dgSxrKP4eK1vAFBfquuag?select=L9CqB5ORH40ydrmKyqdwxQ)

I miss school food. Some people might laugh at me. But those lunch room ladies made a lot of our food fresh and from scratch. It was dang tasty stuff. Seems like we had the same type pizza with some salad.

Shoot, Ms. Handley (the lunchroom supervisor at my grade school) made the best homemade chili I ever put in my mouth. That woman could BURN!
