HOUSTON - The driver of a $400,000 Lamborghini accidentally struck two people and two vehicles outside an Uptown Park night club.
The accident took place around 2 a.m. Monday -- just after the Belvedere bar closed for the night.
The driver of the rare Lamborghini Aventador told Houston police that he recently bought the car and was still not familiar with how to handle it. He lost control of the high-powered machine and crashed in the parking lot.
In all, three people were sent to the hospital: two pedestrians and a woman who was sitting in a silver Mercedes sedan. Their injuries were not life threatening, according to HPD.
Witnesses say other factors may have also led to the crash.
"One of the officers who was talking to me, he said the guy had something wrong with his leg or something," limo driver Rod Blackshar told FOX 26 News. "I don't know. Something was wrong with his leg, and he didn't know how to shift the gears properly."
Blackshar's passenger had just left the bar when he was struck by the Lambo. He suffered only a swollen leg and did not go to the hospital.
The white exotic sports car received damage to its front bumper and windshield. Its driver was briefly handcuffed by police, but because he was not intoxicated and remained at the scene, he is not expected to face any criminal charges.
