View Full Version : Musical Memories...
I just replaced the sub and speakers in my car with JL10w3 and C5-650 components. I was driving in this morning at 5:00am with the tunes turned up and my Ipod hit on Flying Burrito Brothers Deluxe album. I was a big fan in college. Suddenly I was flush with memories from my college years. Old girlfriends, professors, where I lived at the time, guitars I had, smoking herb along the river, etc. It had been a long time since I had even thought about most of that.
Amazing processor we have above the neck and also amazing what can trigger graphic memories.
Happen to anyone else?
I live in that world Kevin. The song 19 Something, was my life down to dad and his sideburns, my black Trans-Am, parachute pants, skating rinks, and the big hair. It's good to think back and remember the good old days.....so long as you keep your head in the present.
Music marks times and events for every one .... with the exception of Disco
I will never admit that era ever happened :)

The smell of Dove soap takes me back 20+ years when I'd be down the shore for two weeks every summer. It reminds me of those relaxing cool showers after a whole day at the beach, and I can almost smell the beach and see snapshots of all the great memories (girls!) over the years. Same thing happens when I hear 18 and Life, and I Remember You - Skid row.
Yep, the mind is a wondrous thing. Too bad I can't remember what I had for dinner last night!

Linkin Park + Godsmack = Mt. Hamilton Rd, Ca.
Driving up to The Lick Observatory was my 'out' during my divorce. I was a bit confused and pissed off so cranking up the jams helped get out of my head.
'A Place for My Head' was playing when a transformer blew down on the hill!!
After the fourth 'You tried to take the best of me' he screams 'GO AWAY' then boom! 'Boom' is when the transformer blew! Holy sheep sheit! :ohnoes: I was all by myself up there and I put that fkr in drive!!!:leaving:

Gonna date myself here. I remember the first time I heard Harry Nilsson's "Coconut". It was Christmas time and we were riding around Amarillo looking at the lights. Later The Jimmy Castor Bunch came out with "The Bertha Butt Boogie". Those two songs always take me back to a simpler and more carefree time and always make me smile.

Cocomo, by the Beach Boys makes me remember some very young memories.

The song "Gloria" always makes me think of my cousin Gloria. She was a wild and crazy gal. I remember all the fun and trouble we got into. My mom wouldn't let me hang out w/ her much cuz she was a "bad influence". After she was medically discharged from the Army, she became a Stripper. She no longer does that and has settled down, but a cool gal to hang out with none the less!
