I finally got my new pistol, the Ruger LC-9, today. It's really skinny, but I really like it so far. It shoots great, right out of the box, and the Laser-Max is really nice. Hell, the laser shoots over 100 yards, and really bright. It seems to be the perfect size for a CCW.....It's DAO, and the trigger is a long pull, but I'll get used to it. Some people in the reviews don't like all of the safety gadgets on the gun, but they're all pretty much optional. If you want to use them, you can, if not you don't have to.....Check it out.

Nothing wrong with a long DA pull on a carry gun.

Not at all, but I still didn't care for it. Nice guns for what they are though.

Exactly. It's a close quarters protection piece, that conceals really nicely.....Simple as that......It'll definitely keep me from being harmed, but it's not something that I'm going to take into a SWAT situation....That's all I'm looking for out of my first pistol....:seasix:....It's enough fire power to get me to my shot gun in my house, if need be.

as all CCW guns are supposed to be.

The hair-trigger range/competition guns are geared towards use ...uh...hmm... at the range or in a competition. "Simple as that" ... indeed.

Which is why I don't mind a heavy or long trigger on carry guns. If you have to use it, you will be so f'ng adrenalized you will never notice. Before I knew anything about hand guns, they all felt the same. Now I have shot enough to really know what I like/dislike in a trigger. I still carry a bone stock 38 year old revolver with a long DA trigger.

:iagree:...Also some reviews trash the loaded chamber indicator on top of the pistol ....Why ????...
If it's dark, and I have to be really quiet, all I have to do is run my finger over the top of the pistol to see if it's ready to rock... I feel that it is a tactical advantage to be able to just feel it w/o making a sound in the dark....

You'll most likely never remember that, it's more to satisfy safety nazis in several states (like MA).

It's there, so , I'll make it part of my training regimen..Wiping my thumb over the top after deholstering, while turning the laser on, has to become habitual.

I'm thinking if I ever get a ccw I want a nice small "wheel" gun like a ass kickin judge :D

I never spent much time at the range until recently. Most of my shooting has been out in the field. Fine tuned triggers have always done a great job of controlling when and where I put bullets.

As long as there's winner and a loser it's a competition. Rule #1 is to have a gun. Nice little belly buster you've got there Jeff. I'm sure it'll represent just fine.

Want to talk hair triggers? The 44mag in the avatar could be fired by pushing on the back of the cocked hammer. Didn't even need a trigger to shoot the thing :D

Can't go wrong with Ruger. They're putting out some great carry guns these days.

My neighbor just called, and invited me up to do some shooting...:hurray:
The weather is sunny, 40 degrees, and no wind, so game on !.
He has some loads that he needs to test for work, and I get to shoot a few of his pistols...... A perfect Sunday ! Shooting, and then the Superbowl...:seasix:
