I keep saying this... but if public execution came back, a lot of this type of crap would stop. Hang 'em high! :seasix:

What complete wastes of skin and oxygen.
I went on a 7 month deployment and in turn notified the front office of the apartment complex that I was in at the time that I was going to be gone in order to take care of the bills/expenses.
When I got back, there was no doubt in my mind that someone(s) had spent extended periods of time in my place. I had nothing that I could make any case out of, but there were enough things out of place that it was very clear to me. Thankfully, I was smart enough to bring all of my personal documents, and other smaller sized valuables to my father's house while I was gone so none of that was disturbed.
Of course the complex said they knew nothing so there wasn't really much i could do about it.
It still pisses me off to this day that I don't know who was there or why.

Public execution.......I'm all for it as long as they make as painful as humanly possible.

May I suggest that the next time that you deploy that you store your possessions and vacate the premises. It is apparent that the management was either totally oblivious to someone entering your abode or (worse) were complicit in the entry. Either way, that is a place that is not taking care of your as the renter. Plus, it would be cheaper to rent a storage area rather than paying rent and utilities which would mean a better place could be obtained upon your return.

It was on extremely short notice and I didn't have time to get everything packed, moved, etc. I had a chance to load those few select things (documents, guns, etc) in the Corvette, drive them to my dad's house 600 miles away for safekeeping, hop on a flight back to VA, and deploy the next day.
For other deployments I have done what you said.
On a side note, I left my '99 Yukon sitting in the parking lot for the entire time, I didn't even bother to unhook the battery. When I got home, I unlocked the door, turned the key, and that s.o.b. fired right up. I never in my wildest dreams thought that would happen.

I've read several stories about this type of thing happening in Texas lately. Apparently there is an old law on the books that low-life assholes are taking advantage of to steal property.

Fine I'll confess I needed a place to stay and since you weren't there why let a perfectly good apartment go to waste.:leaving:

GOT news for any of you all renting, IF you have modern electronic locks, you MAY be safer, but don't bet on it....
ANY group housing like apartments/etc that has a maintenance staff with access to your unit need listen up.....
IF you have the old style pin tumbler locks, like a car key, typical house key....
ANYONE that is a residence in that building can easy duplicate to a maintenance staff MASTER KEY....open any door in the building....
simple, buy a key blank or two that fit the lock....
take the lock apart, any combination of those spring loaded pins that do NOT fit your issued key....are the combo to the MASTER KEY....
so file the blank until it works/fits smoothly...
so now you have access to the entire building....
CASE CLOSED
in fact any master locksmith will tell you the more expensive locks such ass Russwin and some others are more precisely made, therefore easier to crack...i'ts the cheep shit Kwickset that are in fact harder to open ....
much less get this shit....locksmiths have a little Dremel looking tool with a couple? of wobbly looking pins on the end, and they can open a lock in about a minit at most...but a cheep assed lock takes 3 minits...
had it happen to me, lost 3 pistols out of a high rise....

BTW, sorry about the shampoo.
I took mine with me so I'm guessing that was leftovers from the previous squatters.
