The heating element on my DD is dead. Would prefer to tackle it myself and DIY. How big of a PITA is it to take off the seat covers? Easy enough for a shade tree mechanic? It's a 2006 Impala SS. Thanks!

J and I took out the drivers seat of the vette and repaired the side bolster and replaced the seat skin. I printed instructions from somewhere at the other place. We bought hog nose pliers to reattach the little ring things. Took us a Saturday afternoon.

Did you ever feel overwhelmed? Or very predictable and straight forward?

The directions for the vette seat were spelled out with pics. We bought used seat skins from a forum member. We didn't replace the foam. Our seat had a huge hole on the side bolster when we bought it. John sat up saw horses with a sheet of plywood in my den, took the seat out of the vette and we just followed the directions and took our time. It was a first for both of us.:D I kept asking him "what if we messed up"? He finally said if we messed it up we would take the seat and the seat cover to the upholster guy and let them put it on. The seat cover is still on a year later and looks good too.

Oh, John just reminded me....our son dropped by and helped too. So you need 4-6 hands. And we didn't get in a fight or anything while we were working on the seat.
