:confused5: Holy hell that's a bunch of rude customer service reps.

Hyundai gave us a rental car <through enterprise> it's a Toyota Corolla, which i have a problem with since we just bought a brand new Sonata.

Anyways, the car handles terrible, it tries to dart all over the place if you dare turn the steering wheel. I've called all day and nobody has a similar car class in stock. I tell them this is a safety issue and not a car class issue, they then try to send me to the clear other side of Houston <hour drive>. Give me more attitude when I tell them I'm not driving across town cause they gave me a crap car. This rental is missing a hubcap, it's scratched and dented all over, and only has 21k miles on it, what a POS.

Now magically the original rental location has a car available for me, even though I called twice today and they said they had nothing for me.

They make money selling them, not renting them. Their sales reps are just as bad though.

Interesting, since I've had nothing but good luck with Enterprise. They pick me up from work or the car repair place, cheap ($25/day). One time they even drove me to get my driver's license renewed. Not taking up for them, just my experience has been different from yours.

Same here. After the tornado I was able to rent a car from them for a tornado victim even though, as it turned out, the kid didn't have any credit or even a credit card. They patiently got information from a couple of utility companies (to verify a payment history) and called his employer (McDonalds), all this despite the fact that I was paying for the damn thing. They had to do it, Avis and Hertz wouldn't even consider letting him rent a car. Well, unless it was rented in my name (not happening!)

They are a PITA.

They pick you up, then you have to bring the chuckle-head back to the lot.

Plus, their cars are always dirty.

Where I live they stay in business through lack of competition. They're the only car rental company in the county. And, are you ready for this? - they're closed on the weekends.

Never had an issue with them. They are right across from our preferred dealership and a lot of their business comes from dealing with the dealership.

The store manager picked us up one time and he was extremely nice about everything. Not sticking up for them either, but my experiences were pretty good.

I use them exclusively for rental cars.

Though I always only reserve just a standard midsize car, more often than not I get upgraded to a nice ride for same price.

DFW didn't offer me a choice though last year, just a "here's your POS KIA". So maybe it's just a Texas thing.

I don't want to stereotype, but you may be right. My ezperience has been like yours--if they have a bigger, nicer car on hand, they give it to me at the same $25 rate. They've very popular around here; they have the only locations that aren't at the airport, which nobody likes going to.

Pretty simple- here's the contact info.

https://enterprise.custhelp.com/app/ask

And yes, they really read those things.

Wife works the return desk at PDX airport on weekends. Policy is simple with problem cars- swap it out, apologize profusely, and call it a day. Wife does not need to contact her mangler to effect a swap. If it's a functional or safety concern, car gets swapped and off to service it goes. If the swap requires an upgrade because of availability, no sweat.

Here's the rub- many local branches do not have the vehicle availability to do this, so swaps often take place at larger metro branches or airports.

So- let them know what you're experience was. But do what we do- also let them know when someone went out of their way to accomodate you to. :yesnod:

And how does Enterprise stay in business? One of the largest privately held corporations in the world. Classy people to work for too, if you're an employee.

Is Enterprise a loose franchise organization, or more centrally controlled like Avis, Hertz, etc? I've had most good experiences with them, but could certainly see that experiences would be "personality based" depending on the individual franchise. Similar to stopping at a restaurant along toll roads in the Midwest. Same fast food businesses (McD, Taco Bell), but none of them participated in the national chain's promos, or specials. I don't care now, but is was a bitch explaining to toddlers why they didn't get a toy when we stopped at McDs.

So you were having your new Hyundai serviced and the dealership had a crappy Corolla waiting for you? I would have been talking to the dealership management, not Enterprise.

I wouldn't have accepted the POS Corolla. If you bought a Hyundai, you should get a Hyundai rental if you're getting warranty work. They didn't have a decent used Hyundai on the lot they would let you use?

I'm sure the dealership would have had a lot more pull dealing with Enterprise too. You don't want to piss off a corporate account.

No franchises, all corporate owned. Corporation is privately held. Enterprise Holdings recently closed on their purchase of Alamo and National as well

You gotta admit, there's a little irony here. OP buys a nice new Hyundai, and gets saddled with a POS Toyota while his car's in for service.

The one here on the northside sucks ass as well. ALWAYS A PROBLEM. I pay more at a local Avis, but its worth not having the headaches.

Yeah I need t research the warranty to see what we're entitled to, but a compact car to replace a full size is unacceptable.

Btw, we o ly had possession of Karen's new car for 12 hours before it went back for a new radio.

Went to get a rental for my daughter (20 at the time) when her car was in the shop. I wanted the cheapest car on the lot. Said they couldn't rent a vehicle to someone that young. I told the smarmy little stroke behind the counter "You rented to her just fine when her car was in the shop for bodywork."

"Well that's because your insurance was paying for it."

"My money is just as good as my insurance company's money."

"That's our policy."

"Go feck yourself and your policy."

And we walked.

For work, I am in a rental at least 2-3 times a month, always with Enterprise. I haven't had anything but great service from them.

That's what they tried to pull on me at first with that credit-unworthy tornado dude. He had insurance on his van that was in the shop (of course liability only), had a job, but had terrible credit and no credit cards (just a debit card). It was the last thing that meant the most to them, no credit card. But I asked them what that mattered since I'd be buying their insurance and paying for the friggin' thing. So they called a couple of utilities and his employer during a time when they were absolutely slammed with people waiting, and we got him in a car finally.

I've never had any problems with any of the other companies.

Having an issue with a car is understandable for any rental company, but making it so hard to get replaced & then getting a lower grade car as a result, is pretty much unacceptable as far as I'm concerned.
