I heard Red Barchetta on the way to work this morning. I didn't turn the station.

The squealing tires sound effect was silly, but other than that I thought; "OK, I like this"

Not ready to hop on the bandwagon quite yet, but this was a decent offering.

Like I said Tommy Boy.......Listen to that entire CD, (Moving Pictures), start to finish, and if you still aren't a fan....Well, then, I don't know what to tell you.
Oh, and learn The Overture, and The Temples Of Syrinx, from 2112....Then you can call yourself a guitar player. Do it by ear. like I had to, back in the day....This album was a major influence on me, and made me want to learn how to play guitar.
There's even a damn Dalmation on the artwork, for you....What's not to love ?

Best Rush live album ever.

A lot of the stuff they've been doing in the last 15 years or so just seems kinda phoned-in though. Lotsa CD filler tracks. I tried sampling some stuff from Vapor Trails in iTunes and I didn't really hear anything I liked.

I recently saw a documentary on Rush, where other rock stars were interviewed regarding the band...Very famous rock stars, who, when Rush albums came out, learned the guitar , and bass , and drum parts as fast as they could...For some, it took months to learn certain songs, but when they finally did, they knew they hit the benchmark....Now that's quite an endorsement. It was a great documentary, that everyone should see. I just wish that I could remember what it was.... Rock on !

Rush started out as a typical jam band and then became one of the front runners in progressive rock. Their albums span over 30 years and vary wildly from the early 70's until now. Like most bands that don't get a lot of radio airplay, people judge them on a handful of hits. Most fans don't include their popular songs as their favorites. Even though I like Tom Sawyer and Spirit of Radio and other well known songs, my favorites are some of the epic "one album side" songs that you will never hear unless you own the album or hang out with other Rush fans.

That is right about the time big corporate sponsors got into arena rock.

"Miller Lite proudly presents"

Right about that time Neal penned a song about how radio stations suck, the record industry is full of douchebags and phonies, no one has any integrity, and called it, "Spirit of Radio" and the idiots in the industry ate it up and promoted the hell out of it without bothering to listen to the lyrics. It cracks me up whenever some DJ is all, "yeah, now Rush, with Spirit of Radio!" like it's written for them when in fact its slapping them in the face.

A Nice Morning Drive

For those of you new to Rush, the following story is the basis for the song "Red Barchetta" on the Moving Pictures album. For those of you who already knew this, and wondered where the story "A Nice Morning Drive" (see note in album insert) came from, here it is. It appeared in an issue of Road & Track magazine in 1973. It is a long story, but finally getting to read it is worth the time. Neil wrote the song loosely based on this story, and it follows the song pretty nicely. Enjoy!

I have no issue with Rush instrumentally.

But I cannot stand Geddy Lee's voice most of the time.
This.

It's what I imagine a neutered man to sound like.

OK. Rush covering a Who song is grounds for dismissal. What's next, a moustache on the Mona Lisa?

Seriously, that's super gay, which is why that Alex Lifeson guy admitted to having sex with three different men.

Oh wait, that was Pete Townsend.

Get your facts in order before posting. Pete was caught with kiddie porn. "Just for research" :D

Probably honked a few horns too. Like Mick and Bowie.

If that's true, then why did you screen-name yourself after a Bruce Springsteen song?
