View Full Version : Pulled by the Sheriff this AM
On the way to work cruizing along listening to some good tunes on the XM and got pulled for speeding this morning. No other cars on the road, rolling around 65-70 and not even a blip on the Valentine 1. This is the second time the V1 has done this and I've got pulled for a ticket.
Lucky today the officer let me go with a warning. I was honest, let him know when I was reaching into my pocket for my wallet and into the center console for the registration and insurance. I think that helped a bunch, that and a clean record.
A new detector is on order and I'll try it out soon.

my Passport has been doing some weird stuff lately. self calibrating more often than it usually does. sometimes it will do that & then give the message "needs service." I just unplug it [it's hard wired into the mirror] & it straightens up for another 6 mo or a year. [shrug]

I have an Escort 9200 I think, a few years old and has been reliable and undetectable by VA LEO's. I heard it was now visible to some of the new detector detector stuff from some buddies with the same unit.
The new Bell unit is supposed to be the stealthiest unit on the market and I think its about the same price as a Valentine.
I use the detectable Escort when driving the Vette "for effect", I'd rather have a ticket for a detector than a moving violation for speed.
Great that you got a reasonable Sheriff !!!

I got yanked a year ago March doing 87 in a 65. I drove for nearly two miles with the state police behind me. I was looking for a good place to pull over so I could pull a long ways away from the interstate shoulder. I would feel terrible if a LEO was hit by another motorist because of me. Anyway, he took a look at my tags and said "Never late, huh?" I smiled and said "I will be today." I had just washed the car and instead of srying it off by hand, I hopped on the freeway to quick dry it. I told him exactly what I was doing and he smiled and told me to wait a minute. He ask me if I owned the car. He asked me for my license. He came back with a warning ticket. Told me to be careful and that he loved those "Star Wars" Vettes. :skep::lolsmile:
BTW, my radar detector? It's an old Cobra. I don't even turn it on.

FYI...most radar detectors are "detected" when officers note a sudden drop in your speed when they are beyond the distance you could normally recognize them ....so SLOWLY back off your speed when detector alarms and keep brake lights off.

And I don't mean that in a negative way. That's a sweet ride you have.
