Nice guns. My friend has the Eagle Scout .22 version. Very smooth action, and a ton of fun to shoot.

Nice!

I have always wanted an old western style lever action rifle. My brother gave our dad a Henry .22 Golden Boy rifle for Christmas. I was amazed with the action of that rifle. Like butter.

I like the idea of staying in-caliber. I have a ton of ammo and I am trying to keep the quantity of different calibers in check.

Watch a bunch of westerns as a kid?

Like working the action of the weapon (type) that won the west?

The shiny reciever caught your eye?

Lever actions are nice to shoot. No need to lose your sight picture when working the action.

I have a .444 Marlin and a savage 99 in .308 :seasix:

a savage 99 in .308 :seasix:

I own one of those as well. By far my favorite lever action. It was between that and a Winchester 88. My old man collects both, but I liked the shorter throw and looks of the 99 better.

Rotary magazine in the savage 99 allows you to shoot pointed bullets which have a better ballistic coeffient ( they shoot flatter )

Yup. :smash:

They do make a 99C as well with a detachable magazine. You don't want to lose one of those. :willy:

I am struggling with that. I think that is the caliber I really want.

My BIL has one of those. Bought it in 1976 and it's been shot less than 20 rounds.

Mighty fine looking weapon. What is the price point on a Henry?

I can get it new for $725 in .44 magnum.

Depending on the caliber, that gun could be worth decent money. I've seen 99C go for well over a grand with the hand checkered stock.

.308 Win ( common caliber )

Probably not for sale as it was a gift from his late dad.

Thats why I went with the revolver in the other thread. A 1892 is on my list. In .44 Mag :seasix::seasix:

Are there any drawback to having a brass receiver?

Are there any drawback to having a brass receiver?

Brass is very soft. Easy to scratch and can degrade quickly if not cared for.

Some people use them in CW reenacting. We have met a full company using them on the battlefield. Awesome firepower vs. rifled muskets.
