What ever happened to simple old fashion advertising? Use to, every business would give away stuff like bottle openers, pocket screwdrivers, thermometers, etc. Things you could use on a day to day basis that would last.

We still do that, albeit not too often. We gave away these pen/screwdriver/highlighters as a joke. One of our installers was telling someone that "Call us or screw it up yourself". Well, he meant that either call us and have it done right or do it yourself and screw it up, but, that's not quite how it sounded. We have a really good name in town so it doesn't hurt our reputation. We gave the pens to our closest customers and most got a kick out of it:
