Stopped over at my former neighbor's farm and got some pics of an "old school" pitch fork one of his Amish friends made for him. With the exception of the two handmade wooden dowels to tie the forks together, it's all one piece. :cool1: This is the style pitch fork used by the early settlers.

very cool.

fair amount of steam bending involved.

like Shaker stuff, nice clean lines. :yesnod:

He didn't remember what kind of wood but it really wasn't that heavy. It's about 4-1/2' long.

wouldn't be shocked to see that it was ash... without looking at it up close and personal, it's almost impossible to tell

I noticed when the Filipinos are bending rattan for furniture, they use a torch to heat it up for bends, then just sand off any black that would happen.

Have you ever done anything like that?
