If it is active duty SEALs... I'm guessing that the Navy has some sort of review/approval clause?
Yea, I'm too lazy to look it up.

Any time the military lends any sort of assistance to a film production the Pentagon has influence over the content of the film.
Since these men are active duty, it can be assumed that the Pentagon had to approve the screenplay and any changes made to it during shooting.
Typically in a production of this type there will be a Pentagon liason on set at all times.
It is thought that Pentagon approval, or lack thereof, is one of the things holding Top Gun 2 back.

I figured as much but didn't know the details. Seeing as they would most likely have to be TAD to film it, there had to be some sort of approval involved.
The good news is that hopefully that will eliminate any of the typical anti-American military slant that Hollywood has been adding to pretty much every recent movie.
Personally, I think they just need to let Top Gun stay as it is. It would be incredibly hard to make a sequel that would live up to the first.
On a more personal note, I had 2 VHS tapes that I watched until I wore them out (and no cable) growing up that seemed to pretty much shape my life. Top Gun and the 1988 Indy 500. :D

This film is intended to be that answer to that anti-military vibe coming out of Hollywood lately. Another film that tried to carry the flag was Battle: Los Angeles, a very under-rated film IMO...

You got a problem with that? :leaving:
Funny part of that is when I was a kid watching it, I would fast forward to all of the flying scenes.
I think it was about 5 years later that I actually watched it all the way through for the first time.
Then in college we would play the Top Gun drinking game: Any time they do something gay... drink.
Good luck making it through the first hour. :shots:

Just went and saw Act of Valor last night...
The acting wasn't the greatest (as could be expected) but overall I really liked it.
The girlfriend who isn't necessarily interested in the military didn't really seem to like it as much, simply because of the acting although she did agree that the action shots were pretty well done. Definitely worth watching. :flag:
