I plan on losing 15-25 pounds before barn raising 2

After I quit smoking after BR1 I gained close to 10 pounds.
Hell I'm embarrassed to take my shirt off.So I'm going to do something about it.

That's a good goal. When is BRII?

I started dropping weight about two weeks ago. I've dropped about 10 lbs so far and plan to lose another 15. Once I'm there, I'll see what the mirror tells me. I'll be fairly lean at 225, but might drop to 215-220.

I've been hitting the weights and working out for 16+ years. People want to make this stuff complicated, but it all comes down to this very simple equation...

Weight Loss = Calories Consumed < Calories Burned

You can probably lose 10-15 pounds by eating smaller portions of what you eat now and adding in 30 minutes of cardio 3 to 5 times a week. Get really serious with your diet and you can nail 25 pounds.

You got this shit joebuck.

No no... have you learned nothing???

Here is what you do.

MacDonalds 6 times a day, pack it in there, man. Not hungry, eat anyway. Have a goal of being 300lbs by BRII.

Of course, you'll totally joebuck this goal and end up with Christian Bale's physique.

I call it "reverse joebuckology".

You're welcome... again.

First of all, props for quitting smoking--that's awfully tough to do. If you do zero exercise, then there's your answer to weight loss. You're young, and a little exercise can do wonders for losing weight (with a healthy diet, of course). Burning those calories is gonna make you hungry; fill up on healthy, low-fat stuff.

(This message is brought to you by Lspencer534, who has weighed 170 lbs. for 30 years with minimal exercise and by eating what I want...within reason. So WTF do I know; I have good genes.)

15-25 pounds by then is NOT a difficult goal JB. Should be fairly painless.

Cardio man, balanced with some weight lifting.

I spent this last semester on my ass and I'm hating it right now. Time to get my ass back in shape.

I need to drop a good 20 lbs myself.

Also, watch your beer intake. Start limiting that and you can really watch the weight come off.

As a young guy, you can drop 10 quickly. Slack off on the grease, start running/jogging and the weight will come off in 2-3 weeks.

When you get to be an old fart, those pounds come to stay. I'm about to head out for a run in a bit just to stay "even".

Just make sure you lift. They are now saying that's as important or MORE important than cardio.

I plan on doing both. From 18-22 i have gotten massive frame.i know I won't ever get back to the same size as I was back at 18 because my body has widened .

Just watch your diet Joey! I have no idea how you eat, but If you drink coke, eat sweets, pastas, white bread, or any simple carbs, you need to cut way back. I have had clients lose 10lbs by just changing diet alone.
Eat small portions, high in protein, low fat, very low complex carbs, and eat often, every 3 hours.
Start with some cardio, 10-15 minutes a day, and build from there. Walk, run, jump rope, jumping jacks, up and downs, etc.
Don't worry about strength training right now, lose the weight with diet and cardio, and lemme know when ya get there, I'll help ya with strength training!

Here is a tip when scoping out gyms. Look for a gym with at least two rows of cardio equipment. You'll be surprised how much longer you'll go and how much easier it becomes when the piece of equipment in front of you has a hottie in yoga pants.

Imagine this thing bouncing up and down on the treadmill in front of you...

1. Cut out the beer
2. The first 10 is the easiest because it's water weight and always comes back. So if you want to lose 15 lbs, you need to lose 25 to make it stick.

:iagree: Me too

It's not a resolution, but I want to get back into shape by July, when we go to the shore.
1) Start Cardio bike every day for 30 minutes, I started today
2) Try to eat healthier, Small meals, 6x's a day
3) Lay off the booze ( I found that to be a huge factor in the past)
4) Step away from the dummy box
5) Join a gym, and work out using dumbells...After a month or so on the bike.

I want to get down to 225, from 252.... I have to get my ass back into shape
We should have a VB weight challenge thread...For motivational purposes.
Before and after weight & Pics.... The chops would be seriously motivational

Start slowly so you don't hurt your selves, and burn down after a week. Work yourselves up to where you wanna be. It doesn't happen in a week so don't expect it to.

cardio (which most people think of as elliptical, or tread mill) is not going to do much if anything in the long run.

Cardio will help initially you will lose a few lbs but how many fat people do you see sweating away on the tread mills and never change much after 3 months of cardio.

The more adipose tissue you have the lower your natural testosterone levels will be. To fix this you should be lifting weights.

Here are my recommendations,

first stop eating all processed foods.

Second start weight training. If you need a work out routine let me know.. the biggest issue is people don't lift weights hard enough. They lift some weights do their reps and take long breaks in between sets.

third, if your not happy with your progress you can always do "fasted cardio" Its not running but instead, you wake up head to the gym get on the treadmill put it on an incline and start walking at a fast pace. For about 20 mins. You will drop weight fast doing this as you are in a fasted state after waking up (as long as you sleep 6-8 hours a night). I wouldn't recommend doing this until you have a solid 3 months of lifting and a better diet.

You'll never get back to your 18y/o body. Partly because you're balding, too. Good luck, Joe, and don't go on the Mooshell Obama diet... it'll never work.
