While tragic and truly sad, the pictures represent a common occurrence here. Has it happened before? Yes. Will it happen again? Yes. Well why doesn't anyone help them, you ask? There are many countries that have contributed billions in money and materials. Even the IMF has contributed $10B in the last ten years. What happened to the money and improvements? The elite and the many corrupt local and national politicians happened. Why don't the people rise up? They did in 1986. Corazon Aquino was supposed to be just a housewife, however, she was a cousin of Ferdinand Marcos, the guy they were throwing out. Time has passed enough that now even her son is the current President.

Additionally, I was here in during the 1986 revolution. The politicians were fighting each other and the people were poorly educated and impoverished. I'm here again in 2011 and the politicians are fighting each other and the people are poorly educated and impoverished.

I emailed an ex who I'm am still on talking terms with whose family lives in Tablon Cagayon De Oro. Which I remember being close to a river and the Del Monte plant. I have found no news reports on which sections of CDO got hit by the floods. Poor reporting.

No response yet.:sadangel:
