Amazon Selling Over a Million Kindles Per Week
While Amazon continues to not release exact sales figures for any of its versions of the Kindle, the company announced Thursday that it is selling over a million Kindle devices per week.
The online retail giant added that the Kindle Fire tablet remains "the #1 bestselling, most gifted, and most wished for" among all products sold on the site, a spot it has held since it was announced 11 weeks ago.
"Kindle Fire is the most successful product we’ve ever launched – it’s the bestselling product across all of Amazon for 11 straight weeks, we’ve already sold millions of units, and we’re building millions more to meet the high demand. In fact, demand is accelerating – Kindle Fire sales increased week over week for each of the past three weeks," Dave Limp, Vice President of Amazon Kindle, said as part of the announcement.

RIM Earnings Plunge Again
Thursday brought a double dose of more bad news for BlackBerry maker Research in Motion. The company reported a 70 percent drop in profit, and also admitted that the next generation of its smartphones, BlackBerry 10, will not arrive until late 2012.
The company reported a $265 million profit in the quarter, which was attributed to both the BlackBerry Playbook price cut and costs associated with the global service interruption the company suffered in October, the New York Times reported.
Both of the company's chief executives have agreed to cut their pay to $1.
