I think it's A&E channel has this interesting and funny show on, out in LA/Hollywood, Texas/Vegas and so curious about it, I called around here locally in NE Florida, got a couple of offices online and they laughing their asses off knowing IMMEDIATELY about the show, and so I asked about the action, how, where, etc....and one of them commented to keep in mind this is Jax Florida, not HOLLYWOOD....but the scenes they describe are what is on TV, essentially....so Linda and I going to run around to a few of them in the coming weeks, and so to have fun....
Do any of you folks do this shit?? or just dabble, walk away feeling ripped off, or made a killing??
:dance::lol:
i'll sell you random crap out of my garage for cash.
what you don't see is all the leg work on the back end to turn their 'treasures' into cash.
seems to me that unless you strike gold, you are working a lot of hours for minimal returns, trying to turn a 12 year old TV into money, or endless hours on ebay/CL trying to move your new found crap out of your garage.

A few of the TV 'stars' have a storefront selling crap, here in Jax, the joint is loaded with fleamarkets and yard sales, shit goes for zero on the dollar...furnish a entire house here for like a grand or less....
the phenomena is that everyone comes here to retire/die and apparently the lockers they have get overlooked by family, who dunno about them, because they don't look for that, they just look at the bank balances....
I remember going through about 50 years of checks and statements from my folks house, when sis and I cleaning it out, I was looking for unusual amounts of money coming/going and what it was for/from....
never did hear any references to any storage lockers, but they not so popular in DC as here in Jax.....dunno why, what with all the folks moving in/out DC,
:lol:

I think those shows are kinda BS, although I do watch them, but I like how they value the items that they find...........A Bic pen..$10, A naked Barbie Doll..$40.

They say random values for items as they're going through the units and the counter on the tv adds that number to the total. They don't say that the tv listed at 40 won't actually sell for over 15.
They also don't include the overhead, ie the cost of fuel, the workers who do the real moving, the storefront, etc. The $500 profit is probably a break-even, at best.

I used to do that, estate & auctions all the time………….all these damn shows have killed a majority of great profiting.
Each auction each day is different and I try to go to everyone that has my interest because you never know what will happen !!!!……….I have seen a used 5 gallon plastic can sell for more than a new one….then sometimes on the spot I sell one item from a lot I just bought and that one item pays for the whole lot. :D
Sometimes I make out like a bandit as hardly anyone want to bid on items! Sometimes I leave after 1 hour of bidding…..like last Saturday, SMOFOS paying more than MSRP :beat:

Ain't that interesting, she got that same 'tude' that old north Jersey gal I dated back in the 70's yet, before I met the kid's mom.....
lets just say there was a certain 'edge' to Christina, with a accent to go with it....she had other attributes too, something about a garden hose....
