Yes the ball can hit the ground and remain in play, as long as it was a lateral pass, which means the ball cannot be passed forward:seasix:

forward pass hits the ground=incomplete

lateral hits the ground=live ball

Thanks....I wasn't sure......So a lateral as long as it's not thrown forward would come under the "Fumble" rule if it hit the ground...?:)

Yes, it is legal on a lateral. Just like a fumble.
