Looking for something my wife would enjoy in or around Nashville on Dec 12.

We are doing Franklin Saturday and Gaylords Sunday and sunday night.

My wife loves Christmas stuff. I love watching people. What/where would be a good place to visit Monday the 12th.

Is Hillslboro Village a place to go?

Dixie and Yamma are in Nashville IIRC. Might want to send them a PM in case they don't see this thread.

#1 - no on both of those restaurant choices.

If you want a good breakfast or lunch - Pucketts Grocery located downtown
500 Church St.
Puckett's Grocery and Restaurant (http://www.puckettsgrocery.com/nashville/)

While you are downtown - go visit the Hermitage Hotel it is about 2 blocks from Pucketts. It is the only 5 diamond hotel in TN and it is amazing. While there - take your wife to the Mens Resstroom (trust me on this) It has won best restroom in America 2009 and 2010. It is a cool art deco style and you usually find both men and women in there looking around.
http://www.thehermitagehotel.com/homepage.aspx

After Hermitage Hotel - walk straight down 5th avenue towards Broadway and you will pass the famous Ryman auditorium. Original home of the Grand Ole Opry and the home of country music.
Ryman Auditorium - Official Website - Nashville, TN (http://www.ryman.com)

Standing in the front of the Ryman, and just to the right, there is an alley way - if you walk down there, you will find the back (stage) entrances to several of the famous Nashville bars. (Tootsies and Roberts) I prefer Tootsies because I love some Honky Tonk but Roberts has your traditional Western style music. Hang out for a few minutes in each one and catch some tunes.

Once you leave Roberts and Tootsies, you will be on Broadway - If you are up for a short walk, head up Broadway away from the river and over to the Frist Center. (our art gallery) If you want tickets - let me know and I will have some waiting at the desk for you. Nashville, TN Community Art Gallery*-*Frist Center for the Visual Arts (http://fristcenter.org/) the current exhibit are Treasures of Ancient Egypt. I have not been to this one yet, but have heard there are some amazing pieces there.

Leaving the Frist - walk next door to Union Station hotel and visit another one of Nashville's treasures. This hotel used to be a train station many years ago and has gon through a recent renovation. Just walking into the Grand Lobby will take your breath away - it is really stunning. Walk around and enjoy the old architecture. After - if you like a cold beer, there is a Flying saucer attached to the hotel on the back side. They have over 100 taps of nice cold beer.

Other places of interest:

1) Lunch or Dinner - Bosco's in Hillsboro Village.
2) Lunch - Rotier's (hamburger and milkshakes)
3) Scenery - Parthenon (downtown)
4) Nature - Radnor Lake (the most ecologically protected area in TN - filled with wildlife and amazing beauty...plus, it is close to downtown)
5) Shopping - Green Hills Mall - nice stores.

And most of all: Have fun!! I will PM you my phone number if you get lost or have any specific questions.

Rippy's downtown is the better of the downtown choices if you are looking for BBQ.

If you want some really unique things:

1) Merchants downtown has some duck fat fried steak fries that are to die for.
2) Patterson House has some amazing coctails (I like the bacon old fashioned made with yellow label four roses)

Belle Meade Plantation

Belle Meade Plantation is also famous for one of the all time great thoroughbred horses, Iroquois, who was the first American bred horse to win the Epsom Derby in England.

I would also consider Travellers Rest plantation near Brentwood and Andrew Jackson's Hermitage to see the antebellum South.

we went to a christmas event in Franklin tn. A very nice looking town with lots to see. Will go back Tuesday. Lots of vendors and people.

Not that different from the Fernandina, Fl shrimp festival but cold as hell. We really enjoyed it.

Drove highway 31 from Franklin to Brentwood. There were some nice homes on the way that I would like to flip. I just don't have 5 to 10 million to drop on one at this time. Gonna go back and look at some of the neighborhoods. They did not seem to be gated but very large homes.

If you really want to see some beautiful homes, drive out Belle Meade Boulevard and then out Chickering Road. . . you will be impressed.

Go to Darrel Waltrip Toyota in Franklin and meet he owner, usually there and will talk to anyone about anything. I lived in Franklin (Cool Springs), loved it there. Best way to spend the evening in Nashville is go to Jack's BBQ and spend the evening walking music row downtown....................

I found where the 1%ers live. They seem to be clustered here in Nashville. Probably mostly around brentwood.I was looking for dixie's and yamma's place. I kept an eye out for a tremendous deck with a blue stool on it. i am sure I passed it on the way.

Went to a tourist popular place for Breakfast = Loveless cafe. Good breakfast no doubt. I am here at the Gaylord now. nice little motel they got here, really.

went to see the Rockettes Christmas show last night. What a production. Those people are athletes for sure. Nice presentation and it was about christmas, not the winter holidays!

Gonna go to Belle Meade Plantation today.

I didn't mention this but my wife is Mrs. Christmas Spirit and the trip is all about her and Christmas. We are celebrating our 25th anniversary and she has overloaded on Christmas at Gaylords. She is really enjoying this.

gonna go on a tour tonight of christmas decorations in nashville, probably Brentwood and to Franklin tonight.

Just across from Opryland Hotel is a cool light show place - less than one mile away.

Shadrack's Christmas Wonderland ? Shadrack's Christmas Wonderland (http://www.shadrackchristmas.com/)

We rented a van last year and hired a driver so we could all enjoy ourselves while checking out the lights.

If you want to really do it up - There are some Limo companies that do Christmas Light tours:

First Impression Limousine Nashville Tour - Holiday Lights - Limo Christmas Tours (http://www.firstimpressionlimo.com/holidayslights.htm)
Courtesy Limousine Service - Nashville, Murfreesboro and Jackson (http://www.courtesylimo.com/Specials.php)
Holiday Limo Light Tours in Nashville Tennessee, Limousine rentals from Broadway Limos (http://www.broadwaylimollc.com/holiday-light-tours/)

I have not tried any of these, but we have talked about doing it ourselves.

Went to Bellemeade plantation today. A huge horse plantation established in 1807. financed up until the early 1900's by a bunch of humping horses. One of them produced more Derby winning horses than any other.

Pretty place. Those 1%ers who don't live in Brentwood live near Bellemeade.
